I once got so bored and curious as a child, I tried and won the jumping contest with a Diglett.

I actually love the idea of taking Pokemon that was really bad at battling and making them OP at other things!

Sunkern evolves with a sunstone

catches it in a moonball

1:48 Diglett and Dugtrio cannot jump because Game Freak are trying their hardest to hide their feet

The fucking Ed Edd and Eddy sound effects during the sumo section of the pokeatholon was great

Two Gods and a Sunkern is my favorite sitcom

Waited so many weeks now for the fabled Pokeathlon episode and now it's finally here, on my birthday of all days! What a nice gift to unwind to in the evening (in Europe)! Thank you Chugga!

Imagine just casually walking into the PokéAthlon Dome and entering three Gods into a Sports Event.

Remember when the anime promoted this mode, and Pikachu lost in a race against a Snorlax?

0:20 "Before running track and field, we gotta train right, and we gotta eat right"

I really thought we were segueing into Chugga's first ever sponsorship, I legit expected a Factor ad or something.

4:36 What a narcissist, PokéGod decided to have the best possible stats for the Pokéathlon

14:22 There's a mechanic to block smash with the cracks on the tiles. If you break a tile by taping on the crack your pokemon will gain an aura boost which will enable it to get a chance of fatigued less often. If you keep going after the cracks your pokemon just gets locked in and can just blaze through tiles and get the score like it was nothing!

"You wanna be a dick!"
Uses Palkia

I see what you did there

Modes like PokeAthlon, PokeStar Studios, Battle Frontier, Pokemon World Tournaments.....that were heavily featured during the Gen 3-5 eras were what made pokemon far more replayable and fun in the long term.

Features I fear will never return to modern era of games as the devs think people have too short an attention span....

For those who've played HGSS before, what's the funniest moment/interaction y'all have had in the PokéAthlon?

For me, it was entering my newly hatched level 1 Togepi into the Speed Course and watched it proceed to, I kid you not, run circles around the rest of the competition
(just the sight of a newborn eggie sprinting at mach speeds had me in stitches from laughter)

Another video to add to the list of "It's part of the LP, but you can watch this one on its own"

ITS THE BEST SIDE MODE POKÉMON HAS EVER CONCEIVED YEEEEAAAAH BABY

28:37 Crystal had an exploit where if you mess with the daylight saving settings. You can force one of the item giving trainers to call you for a rematch or giving you an item.

You can farm stones that way in Crystal at least.

I’m Commander Shepherd, and the Pokeathon is my favorite store in the citadel

I can finally say I 100% Pokeathlon
