Thank you for talking about XCC and XCO, almost every other channel that does a show on UCI MTB thinks there's only one discipline.

I used to live about 6 miles from Aston Hill so many happy memories. Seeing the update video, it is very changed now and looks epic. Wishing the guys much success. And you are right Ferg, the old push up was horrendus, the new one looks like a massive improvement.

Before online, sales became a big thing. There were only certain brands of bicycles in my area. So we picked and choosed from them. Racing was cool. John tomac raced a Raleigh. It would have been nice to get one of those in our area. But couldn't find ones.

I think brands matter because they project an idea of reliability/ dependability. I feel like sometimes fringe brands push the envelope and more affordable brands push the envelope as well. both create uncertainty around safety issues.

Since the situation is so volatile, its definitely a liability to have something go through the USA supply chain. If you need a replacement part, and the price doubled, tripled, or more, that can really hurt.

@SlowMtbRider 1 day ago

I used to buy bikes and parts not made in China. Got a lot of high end parts made in USA (cane creek, zipp 3moto rims…)

Now it’s the total opposite, if the brand is a US company or if it’s made in the US, it’s a no go.

EXT Suspension, Intend brakes, Qvist Freehub, Outliers pedals have been my latest upgrades.

My bike is an Ibis Ripmo, which is awesome and I’m fully SRAM

Next bike will be Shimano that’s for sure. Commencal or DiVinci maybe for the frame. Atherton ? Will see

Latest build is put togheter with mostly European brands, with one exception the wolftooth grips & b-rad stuff

Supposedly, the new GTA will have trails in the hills you can use for mountain biking. I wonder if they actually invested time into making the bike mechanics feel believable and if there’ll be races to do and the ability to start groups to meet up online? It’d be a little bit of entertainment during the winter season when we can’t get out in real life as much.

I am willing to pay extra if something is made relatively local to me. I live in Colorado, so there are several local-ish bike brands and parts makers scattered around. If I can find something from here, I'll do my best to support my local community. Not always an option and not always an attainable price.

@ginger1908 14 hours ago

I generally don't mind where my bike comes from, although I do like to know it's not their first bike, I'd take a second or third edition but what is some important is the after service, and the Chinese brands aren't there yet.

@joeymacme 1 day ago (edited)

Japan for components, obviously. I'd prefer my bike frames made by those with the best record and experience in building bikes. I have bikes with Made in: Thailand, Taiwan, China on the frames. All excellent bikes. I would love a fancy Japanese one though. Also, I like some of the current artistic small makers at the trendy bike shows, so from France, Germany, UK.

Alot of companies will design the product but then have the product made somewhere else where its cheaper to produce.. so is it an American product if its desiged in the U.S.A but made in China?

@Velo1010 1 day ago

I’d prefer to buy something made in America, Europe, or Australia. That’s becoming increasingly rare these days. So I just look for quality and price.

@StuartMorris-z7i 1 day ago

Yeah I care just ordered a new Cotic escapade

@frankjs2105 2 days ago

Products by global brands, that are produced in China or other asian countries have to follow the brands quality standards. The problem is often asian products, that don't follow US or EU standards and are of low quality. However, no matter the brand, imho sou should always at least try to buy US or EU manufacturered products, else it takes away whole manufacturing industries and therefore jobs and money from your region and shifts it over to China or other asian countries.

@DigitBikes 1 day ago

It seems like you're conflating the "made in which country" discussion with the "made in a brands own facility hand-in-hand with R&D" discussion (like Orange, Nicolai, Digit Bikes, for instance).
