12:25 damn, suddenly realizing that my mom was a boy mom. You’re talking about boys getting away with things— my brother literally got away with murder. I’m not joking, he’s in jail for murder and my mom still rearranges her schedule to drive hours to see him for 20 minutes because “he seems sad,” but in the same week she did that I got a “hang in there” when I told her I was suicidal. She lives 30 minutes from me. If we’d had TikTok in the 90s my mom would have been one of these moms.

My little brother was told he could be anything. I was told to be realistic. My brother got a phone before I did. My brother learned to drive first because I wasn’t mature enough. That kind of stuff stays with you.

As a 42 yr old woman whom had a boy mom, and had to help take care of her older brother. I knew by the age of 13 that I was not having children. Thanks to my boy mom and the abuse I went thru. Like I was the baby girl! I was supposed to be the spoiled one! Lmfoa.

my mom was one of these moms. the dynamic in our childhood home was me, the older female child, parenting my mom and taking the brunt of her emotional abuse while she chased my brother around like a school girl with a crush. my brother and i were very close and she literally pulled me aside on a few occasions where me touching him was inappropriate and making her uncomfortable. these inappropriate touching being either a hug or me having my arm around his shoulder. she never saw me as a daughter but literally as a highschool rival trying to steal her man. both my brother and i currently have restraining orders against her. please go to therapy before having children

My mom is absolutely a boy mom. In my head I call her and my 30 year old little brother Jocosta and Oedipus....
I am a mom with a teenage daughter and teenage son. I am not a boy mom. My son and daughter are raised exactly the same with the same rules, responsibilities, and expectations.
My son just asked out his first girlfriend a couple days ago and my daughter is crushing hard on a girl at school but is still working the courage to talk to her while drawing their initials on her hand in Maybelline lip stain every day

Oedipus working overtime to earn that therapy money. These boys will grow up to be lonely A.F. because no sane woman would want them, in prison because they thought they could get away with anything/became abusive or, stuck in a miserable relationship for life that could never measure up to mommy.

I have a son, but I am not a "boy mom". My son is an adult now. I would have been equally excited to have a daughter, but mostly I just focused on having a healthy baby. I gave my son firm boundaries growing up with regard to his behavior. I used time outs to mold his behavior and teach him self-control and how to safely express his emotions in a socially acceptable way. I would not have raised a daughter any differently if I had been blessed with one. I think this "boy mom" thing is really weird and I have a hard time relating to it. I love my son, but I never ever felt like I was going to be in competition with future women he would date. I never thought that I should always come first in his heart. I think you are doing a disservice to your child when you behave in this manner. Boundaries are very important. Happy Birthday, Izzy! I hope you enjoyed it and I continue to love the work you do. I nanny for a boy mum, she also has a daughter. I pray for that little girl every day, she doesnt deservethe treatment she receives. And the boy, is still very young and has extreme delays from being constantly being treated like a baby

My mother swear she raised us the same. But I got grounded for calling ahead of time to say I’d be home a few minutes past curfew due to then rerouting traffic from the ocean front. The next night my brother got picked up by the COPS for walking in the neighborhood at 2am as a minor out after curfew. He got community service for it, and my mom said that was enough punishment. 😑 she didn’t even tell him not to do it again. She just said “boys will be boys”.

7:25 I notice often (not always) that the moms have strained relationships with their husbands whether it’s that they don’t feel fulfilled in them or if their husbands work away from home or are not currently in a relationship. It’s deeply uncomfortable to see so many parents doing this to thier children
