Thanks for adding the "No AI". So much history slop out there.

Put (NO AI) in title + history = new human subscribers and commenters. Thank you.

From the snail’s perspective this is a f’d up hell world lol

IIRC, the purple dye continued to deepen and become a richer color of purple for the life of the textile. One of the reasons it was so valued, it didn't fade. Unfortunately the scent also remained.

As a Lebanese, this is a good recap of some of our history

The earlist proof. according to recent archeological finds, that purple was being manufactured at scale is the Minoan civiilization- predating the Phoenicians around 500 years.

"No one thought to go maybe we should try using berries" Uhh.. they did try dude, they tried EVERYTHING to get purple dyes. It never worked, which is why they had to resort to the snails my guy. This is what made it so valuable, no one could find a replacement anywhere to make the purple.

I always dreamed that when we die we can take a journey through time for as long as we want and witness all this stuff first hand

Watching this from Byblos, I was introduced to your channel through your video on the Assyrian Empire. This is a very nice surprise!
Please keep going, your content, just like Tyrian purple, is worth more than its weight in gold.

The horse heads on Phonecian ships may explain why Poseidon was the god of the sea, earthquakes, monsters, and horses.

About what the called themselves, maybe the Greek word for purple was originally the name of the people, and the Greeks used that name for their main trade item?

They did write, quite a lot.

But being cheap as hell, they used mainly papyrus, instead of parchment, skins or clay. Papyrus degrades quite fast and burns easily.

I was in the louvre a couple years ago, on a very busy Saturday, and they have a couple of rooms dedicated to the carthaginians, and I had the rooms more or less to myself for like 45 minutes

I taught World History (including Ancient) for 35 years yet I always learn LOTS from your videos: Keep up the great work! Yes, I'm sure you & your viewers would find the Punic Wars fascinating.

So hard to find a channel that is not just videos voiced over. Love to see the actual maker speaking.

Would love to see you present on the Punic Wars.

Great video.  Well done and keep up the good work. One minor point - you didn't mention that the sea snails came from the Atlantic coast of Morocco, which was one of the reasons for the Phoenicians to develop their ships and their sailing skills.

Dude….. you are on a roll!  💪🏼

Last week I played a video of yours while riding on the interstate with my mother and she got so into it we missed our exit and ended up being almost an hour late to our destination 🤣.  Thanks for helping me have a bonding moment with family over the Word 🙏

The quality of your videos are genuinely insane for the sub count

Pharaoh-Necho would have been around 600 BC (just being technical).

Absolutely the best content I have came across recently!
