This is one of the most poetically beautiful songs ever written.

Wind beneath my wings is just as beautifull....bette is a legend

Moves me to tears every time.  There's no other voice like Bette Midler's.  She's a gem.

A song of hope. That it is never to late to love, and embrace life

Ever The Divine Ms M, long shall she reign. 💛🌹💛

One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Period!

The Rose is one of the most  beautiful songs ever ❤❤❤

Bette won a Grammy for Best Female Vocal that year. No one...No ONE interprets a song like Bette Midler. And this song does not even have a chorus.  She is an iconic entertainer, singer, actress, writer, and huge philanthropist who is still around and is very healthy, and is coming out soon in another film co-starring and directed by Jonah Hill! She's  80!  Any talk  show on which she appears becomes a classic.  You will find that she was the first pop singer to put on Broadway-style stage shows with scenery, dancers, singers, etc., but she is also a great comedian who combines comedy, drama, and acting into her concerts. She was doing it  since 1972, way before Madonna, but there was no MTV, and the budgets and special effects were not as big, but no one else put on shows like her.

This comes from the movie of the same name, which is a thinly veiled story based on Janis Joplin's life. It was Midler's film debut. Prior to that she was known as a singer and entertainer. Her live shows were AMAZING! She combined singing, comedy, and general mayhem, and was known for being really bawdy, bordering on filthy, but utterly charming. She started on Broadway in a small role in the classic musical "Fiddler on the Roof," then when she wasn't getting any work, she actually took a job singing at a gay bathhouse, with Barry Manilow as her accompanist. You should even consider reacting to the movie "The Rose." She was nominated for an Oscar for it, and deservedly so. She shocked everybody with what a great actress she was. To get a real sense of her as an entertainer, you should check out her "Live at Last" concert film from 1976, which is available on YouTube. It's truly incredible. And yes - this is an absolutely gorgeous song.

Let's give some love to the singer/songwriter who actually wrote this song, Amanda McBroom. I didn't even know who she was before looking it up just now, but she deserves to be credited with creating this incredible song. Of course, Bette Midler did a beautiful job singing it.

She is so talented,  both as an actor and a songstress

I don't know how there are Americans who have never heard of Bette Midler.

Welcome to the world of Bette Midler - one of the most talented and unique artists to grace the stage and the screen.  A virtuoso singer, a fearless broad, a hilarious comedienne, a superb actress, and a tireless advocate for human rights.

Her career has stretched over decades as she has spread her gifts across multiple media venues.  There is no other like her.

So simple, yet so profound.

Your generation probably knows her best from  the movie Hocus Pocus.

I love this song so much. I Love the movie The Rose, Bette Midler sings her butt off at the end. That's an awesome performance to react to as well. She is just an all around beautiful person. She's on my list of people I would love to meet and talk to.

You must watch the movie!  "The Rose"

She was nominated for an Oscar for this movie, it was her first movie and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out why she didn’t win. It was the most riveting and intense performance of the year and all these years later, it completely holds up.

Beautiful song .. Bette's voice on this has such a beautiful fragility

Bette is an amazing actress with great comedic time. Love her on First Wives’ Club
