Galloway’s only debating tactic appears to be to refer sneeringly to Hitchens’ past as a Trotskyist, as if it were some guilty secret he was trying to keep quiet.
It is funny. Hitchens and Galloway disagree at every point. But underneath, they quite like each other. Look at how their shoulders lean towards one another and how they come to occasional friendly laughter. I liked the atmosphere here. Nice and civil discussion.
seeing George Galloway in this interview compared to how he treats others he is in complete awe of Peter Hitchens and so he should be peter knows his stuff and George is talking fantasy not his usual self at all
There's another place the timeline can begin at: the Great War, which Hitchens will be familiar with through his reading of 'The Deluge: The Great War and the Remaking of Global Order'. That catastrophe opened the gates to everything that followed. And who was to blame for that? Well, imperial Germany we know of, of course, but completely left out of historiography (until recently) is the significant role played by London and Wall Street.
