Voices from the past...Gifford, Namath, Simpson and the players... little Leo Lewis...5' 8" and 175 lbs. Man, it was nice to watch this game and Leslie Frasier was a DB ..our future Vikings coach...how time flies, thanks for posting.
It was like a perfect drama when McMahon came into the game and immediately changed the momentum. Years later McMahon said he was as high as a kite on pain meds and nearly lost the ball on the first snap.
Love watching Payton block in these films. I've been a Payton fan forever and seen all his running but these days I love watching his other stuff that is also the greatest. Like his receiver play and passing also.
So much interesting things going on in this game. McMahon going crazy, Walter's block, OJ, Bud Grant takes a year off, Gault going off, Namath commentating, Buster Rhymes the football player not the rapper, Coleman dropping balls, Kramer putting up yards on the Bears D, Hampton and McMichael reeking havoc.
My daughter was born that night I remember yelling into a towel I was so excited a night I'll never forget and ditka rollerblading around the Metrodome with taunting the viking fans what year 85 was
I remember watching this game. Two things come to mind that have always lingered with me. First, everything you want to know about the kind of player Walter Payton was is in the incredible block he threw on the blitzing middle linebacker on Jim McMahon's TD throw to Willie Gault. That TD, and perhaps even the winning momentum, doesn't happen without Walter. Secondly, as good as the mid-80s Bears teams were, they relied on Steve Fuller way too much when McMahon was frequently injured. God, Fuller was a terrible QB.
This appears to be the NFL released version of the game. I’m interested if they purposefully omitted OJ from his on camera piece during the intro. Gifford would start the intro and then Namath and OJ would both talk on camera during it. Seems like they did.
