Love when Mike is doing solo vlogs on his solo travels with a girl

Athens finally saw the closest thing to a Greek God since 500BC

Just get your girl on the vlog man, we all know it’s not a solo summer! She’s even in the video 😂

Athens history is actually insane, like the Acropolis, Plaka, Monastiraki, that whole area, we talking thousands of years of actual history right there, nothing touristy or fake about it. Except for the unlimited scammers there lol, that part's real. But genuinely one of the most important cities to ever exist honestly. You could spend like 3-4 days just walking around the center and still not see everything, that's how deep it goes.

Now outside the center it gets weird though. A lot of areas that aren't the super touristy spots have a real drug problem and it's honestly sad to see cause the city's beautiful. Scammers are buying up cheap homes in those areas for like 40k - 80k and then reselling this whole "10 minutes from the center of Athens" dream to tourists who have no idea what's actually around there. A lot of the golden visa guys do this too and it's part of why some areas end up looking nothing like what people expect.

But then the other side of it either. Glyfada and Vouliagmeni are lowkey the Dubai of Greece fr, completely different world, water clear, beach clubs everywhere, restaurants on another level, that's where the actual money and lifestyle is at down there. (Money hunters as well lol)

Also bro if you ever wanna stay somewhere nice for a night or two you gotta check out Astir Palace in Vouliagmeni, it's on its own private peninsula, fully gated off, five star everything, and the real estate around it is some of the most expensive in the whole country. People literally fly in just to stay there for a weekend, that's how big of a deal it is.

So basically it's history in the center, watch out for the scam areas and the drug spots outside of that, then a whole different planet once you head down south to the coast.

The guy singing "Pretty Woman" on the street, is Xenophon, he lives in my town Kiato , (one hour away by car from Athens) and he doesn't do it just for money , he loves singing for the people to make them feel happy! He is adorable! He used to sing and play music with my late father , back in Australia in the 60's. Good to see him in this video. I will show it to him as soon as I see him again ! Have a great time mate!

Solo vlog huh? 😏

Brother as a Greek who follows you for the last couple of years (I'm from Crete specifically), I felt great watching these 2 video of yours and I am really happy that  you enjoyed your time here!

I have an answer for your architecture question... More of a theory really. After World War I, there was a significant shift in the trust society placed in its institutions. Since it was no longer possible to predict when a global-scale conflict might erupt again—something previously considered impossible—governments stopped investing in symbols of power as they once had; the certainty that such power would endure for centuries was gone. Moreover, as the years passed and construction became industrialized, we traded craftsmanship for efficiency and beauty for cost-effectiveness. Architectural abstraction began as a clean break from the dogmas of the past, yet over time, it succeeded only in distilling forms to convey the same message with less—leaving one feeling less when inhabiting those spaces.

As a Greek, thank you for pointing out all the ugly stuff. We should be better.

Uncle Mike “solo” trip to Athens doing it big in a 1200€ minimum per night room just by himself…:wink :wink

Uncle Mike and his lady on vacay :)

FYI: The ancient Macedonians were a Greek tribe and formed an integral part of the ancient Greek world, speaking a Greek dialect and sharing the same religion, customs and traditions with the rest of the Greeks.

Your vlogs help me so much, thank you for that ❤

Initially booked only 1 night in Athens cause all the graffiti and then extended 5 and left realizing this is my favorite city in the world! the access to the islands and the Athenian Riviera is unreal.

This was the chillest travel vlog of this channel. Thanks for visiting us Mike 🇬🇷

As a greek i completly agree with the graffiti people, they are disqusting, lifeless, jobless people that they only want to destroy people's and public properties

Mike is a vibe

Great intro to Greece and Athens Mike.  As an Aussie I’ve chosen to spend 4-5 months of the year living in Greece - specifically around the islands.  The climate , the food, the music , the beaches and the consistent vibe makes this part of the world so very special.   Peace out ✌️

Oh hell yeah! Mike is back! Miss you brother! You actually look like a Greek God in this video!. Smashing back and chest today on Toronto Island! Just opened a new gym in the city! Crunch Fitness Epic! Going to chill out on the boat and then Cabana Beach Club today for work. I am back working as a bouncer. Crazy life! I am probably the oldest bouncer in Toronto......

5:13 preach Mike. Seems like developers don’t care anymore. Probably because our currencies are off the gold standard and we print money.
