The instrumental part in high water is genuinely heartbreaking. I’ve never heard a breakdown sound so much like an actual breakdown, it kills me every time I listen to it

This mf found the connection between the piano instrumental of a Sleep Token song and a riff of Pearl Jam my jaw is on the floor

I literally just ENGULFED the last 2 videos you posted about their lore TODAY and I was so disappointed to think I’d have to wait months for the next video only to find out ITS COMING OUT IN 10 HOURS????! Happy dancing over here 🥳

Atlantic is probably the most heartbreaking and emotionally vulnerable song I’ve ever heard and it’s one of my favourites in the entire discography.

Just in the first few lines, he says so few words, and yet says so much.

I woke up surrounded (in the hospital, surrounded by nurses, friends, and or family)
Eyes like frozen planets (the serious, worried looks on the faces of whoever was there to visit him at the hospital, post “self-delete” attempt, will probably haunt him for the rest of his life)
Just orbiting the vacuum I am (Everyone was around him as he lay there in the hospital bed, feeling numb and empty like the vacuum of space)

The lyricism, the music, the message, the emotion it all evokes…

It’s beautiful, and gut-wrenchingly sad.

The ocean theme is the perfect thematic fit for music about a time when he was at the bottom of the Challenger Deep of his depression. Anyone who’s suffered serious depression knows EXACTLY how bad the bottom feels. It feels numb, and yet like your whole body and mind are being crushed by 10,000 metres of ocean on top of you. Too numb to cry, too sad to not cry, constant pain that doesn’t go away but merely slightly subsides every now and then, and too tired to get up and do anything. It feels like the end of the world and there’s no way out, except to “end it yourself”.

If you’re reading this comment and it feels like its the end of your world:
It isn’t. It’s not the end. Things do get better, eventually. And you’ll be a stronger, more resilient person for it, afterwards. Just be patient and don’t be afraid to ask for help, or to ask to talk to someone about it. More people than you can ever realize have gone through what you’re going through and they made it out. They know what you’re going through. You can make it too. 🖤

I feel like I've been waiting my whole life for this video.
The Sundowning breakdown was legendary but this is something else entirely

So I’m a diver and one of my favorite things about being underwater is the way it sounds—everything is echoey and far away but also so close. You feel engulfed and held by the sound. I don’t know how he does it, but Vessel mimicks the sound of being underwater so perfectly.

For me- missing limbs is personal. “Lying next to me” is literal. And “what you are to him….” Is her true lover. The one she loved instead of me

That Star Wars rant was fucking gold. Back to the video now.

I love these videos. Great to have in the background, and amazing for sparking the creative nerves! Thank you for sharing!

This is my personal interpretation of Tomb, and it's one I haven't seen many people share, and I doubt it's correct, but I'd like to share anyways. I think Atlantic, in the overall timeline of tomb, is the last song in the timeline, and the rest of the album is a flashback. Every song after Atlantic is describing what happened after blood sport, and to me, there was a build up to the breakdown that occurs on high water, and missing limbs is the emptiness and vessel's resignation to "the vaccum I am" that he describes in Atlantic. Absolutely love your interpretation of events though, and has opened my mind to much more of the symbolism present from like that to telomeres. ❤❤

Anyone else think that sleep token is really just singing about an insomniacs relationship to literal sleep?  As an insomniac myself all these metaphors relate exactly to the toxic relationship I have to sleep and the obsession it becomes for you and the mental tole it takes you through when you can’t get any.  It comes and goes, leaves you wanting more..etc.  vessel is basically just an insomniac.

Need Act 3 ASAP, but please don’t rush, as a long time ST fan these analyses are helping me understand this band in a way I never did before. I’ve spent ALL DAY listening to every moment of these videos and every bit has been worth it. Thank you for taking such care to make such a cohesive analysis of the band that’s made the biggest impact on my life.

Discovering this series just to find out it hasn't been updated in 4 months was a kick in the guts. Hope you're doing good and that it will continue someday.

Hey Timpft! I wanted to add something to your analysis! I am a diehard Halo and Sleep Token fan, and would like to point out that Vessel seems to be a Halo fan as well. All this to say that I interpret the title of the album to be a Halo reference. The line "This Place Will Become Your Tomb" is spoken by Cortana in Halo 3 (or rather a vision of her). Throughout Halo 3, Master Chief (and more importantly You the Player) are shown visions of Cortana who you were forced to leave behind to complete your mission in the previous game. Her quotes through these visions often echo abstract questions that both are quotes by her and Dr. Halsey (the scientist who made Chief who he is and the one whose brain Cortana is based on) while simultaneously seeming to reflect things that she would never necessarily say to Chief/the Player, but what he/you may be thinking while playing (i.e. "Could you watch me die?" said toward the beginning of the game and a slightly changed quote from Halsey in the books). She says "This place will become your home. This place will become your tomb" at the end of the mission Crow's Nest as you have to destroy a temporary military base that was evacuated just after the Covenant found and attacked it. I have taken this line to be another modified Halsey line (though I'm not sure if she ever actually said anything like this I'm sure she said something similar) in order to both make Chief remember where he started and of the grim reminder that despite becoming a super soldier, despite the slow, small victories against a force that far surpasses the might of anything Humanity has to offer, despite his survival against what are essentially space zombies, that these factions are still alive, still present, and still VERY much after his life. There is only so much he can do, and while the Chief essentially never lost, this is all his victories could achieve. The thing closest to him in life is, at this moment, far out in the reaches of space on an alien supercolony that was infected with The Flood (previously mentioned space zombies) and being interrogated by their hive mind while he stumbles through lucky victories on Earth, trying desperately to defend whatever he has left. That's just my interpretation and I thought it might add to your thoughts as well! excellent video and I look forward to the next, keep up the amazing work!!!

I'VE BEEN WAITING MONTHS FOR THIS YESSSS!!!!!

i’m new to this fandom and just by judging you and your commenters, i’m about to join patreon and discord. this community seems so fun. i’m a twenty one pilots fan so my love for band lore is insane, and i’ve known ST had lore but i wasn’t aware of how deep it was. i’ve binned all the music in the past two days and now watching your analysis, im convinced im going to be obsessed with this band. thank you for your in depth analysis, and i can’t wait to be in this community

I found Sleep Token just before the TMBTE album released, first track i heard and fell for was of course Alkaline. Through my last few years ST has been a message for me to move forward and let my heart choose the direction. same with the Arcadia album.

And just like vessel I’ll sink back into a deep depression until the next video drops 😔🙃 these are so beautiful thank you for your passion project!

I have to say, your editing/video style is just so unique compared to other video essays. It's soooo fkn cool

Do you have any idea what a pleasure it was to see this pop up for me?!
