I’m so glad I could introduce you to a band that I genuinely hold near and dear to my heart.

The whole album is ocean themed. Interestingly all the official videos have part of a set of coordinates. When you put them all together they will lead you to Point Nemo. It is the one location on earth farthest from land. Also known as the loneliest place on earth. Which encompasses the feeling behind the opening track and the album.

Something worth mentioning, considering you talked about how tight the band is. In relation to the guitar bass and drums.
Vessel records all of it. The band is 2 people. Vessel and vessel ii. Drummer is ii, drums and pads. Vessel is vocals, guitar, piano and bass. Worth keeping in mind. They tour with 2 more guys, iii and iv.

Worship.

I'm a 54 yr. old 80's Head Banger. My son, 27yrs., turned me on to these guys. Wow! I'm enjoying my musical evolution......

"I like a rock band that knows how to build... how to pace themselves" oooooh you are definitely in for a treat with Sleep Token! They are honestly masters at building not only a song, but an entire album. Love your comment about the snare bc II is kinda KNOWN for the sound of his snare, and it's kinda part of their "iconic" sound.

Also, while there are ways to tie the lyrics into their lore, the lyrics are also deliberately open to interpret on a more relatable "real-world" level as well!

Random note: the actual lyric is "Talking with razors on your tongue" not braces lol

Thank you for this brilliant reaction to an album that is important to a lot of us fans.
I discovered this band two years ago through a reaction channel and as the faith would have it, the following two years ended up being the worst of my life, losing loved ones and a marriage. Sleep Token ended up being the holding hand and a shoulder to cry on to, while recovering. I dare to say I owe them a lot and they really saved me. Although bleak at times, their music and lyrics can make us feel connected and understood when everything else seems to fall apart. I'm slowly healing and feeling better, thanks to the wonderful fanbase, the music and loved ones. There's power in sharing the same wounds.
I hope you fall deeper into this rabbit hole, because there's so much to experience. 🖤

If you're into the piano, you need to listen to "Aqua Regia" off the upcoming album. All their new stuff is spectacular.
Sleep Token are an amazing band, and I love that they do something different every song. You never know what you're gonna get, but you always know it will be outstanding.

Dude I love this reaction so much. You take the perfect amount of time in and out of the songs to go over things without being disruptive to the experience. Keep it up man, I"m subbed!

That little jazz break in the middle of "the love you want" is the most disrespectful smooth ass thing this band has ever done.

@HowieStephens 3 years ago (edited)

26:00 bro epic stank face lol. You were talking about "oh it'd be cool if they did a liiitle screaming here and there" and I was cackling knowing what was coming up. But seriously, 20 something minutes in and loving your reaction so far. It helps that you obviously have independent musical knowledge and experience; both in recording and performing I assume? And yeah, the drummer—holy crap—amazing skill, but so *tasteful*. Then when he goes off 😮Also appreciate the lyrical deep dive. But I will echo another sentiment I saw: loouuuder! 😬

This is sooo late, but I was a huge fan of Bastille growing up and heard that in this band instantly, and have never heard anyone else compare ST to them so hats off haha! I think it’s the SUPER specific combo of rnb influenced pop vocals in a Southern English accent, with poetic wordy verses and lots of synths/keys in the 2010s alt pop sound. Like, it’s a ridiculously specific combo, and therefore I’d probably kill to hear Bastille cover a ST song and vice versa!!

@Momom61331 3 years ago

Most of the time I don’t watch full album reactions cause they are too long for me but yours was really good and in depth. Really enjoyed it

@libonkers8750 2 years ago (edited)

I’m only 10 minutes in, but just you loving vessels soulful vocals, ii’s masterful drumming, the atmosphere building, the heavy breakdown and the unique song structure of Atlantic is making me very excited to see you to experience all the genres & emotions that come with sleep token XD

Edits:
“Woah I am feeling” 😂 32:10
1:02:12 - dude not many people put together that lyric right off the fucking bat and relating it to the album’s theme! Plus it being song #7 on the album (7 being the exact middle ph between acid & alkaline) putting it directly in the middle of this album & of the 3 album trilogy.

If you haven't watched the Hypnosis Drum Cam, I'm sure you'll dig it, bro. It's nice. The guy (called "II") just has it. That one's probably my favorite of all his Drum Cam videos.

@kevinhelm9970 3 years ago

This was an excellent reaction/review! A lot of the reaction scene seems to be too focused on quick turnover of videos. I appreciate the genuine discussion of the album with lyric breakdown. Thank you for sharing!

Loving your commentary so! ❤ The best analysis of the lyrics I’ve seen so far. Really enjoying the vid! Thanks! Will watch your other stuff on ST 😍

@tanasmom1969 2 years ago

I really enjoyed your reaction ! Your interpretation of some of the lyrics were really interesting and got my mind going. You are very insightful. Thank you for the reaction !

@itsaSage 3 years ago

I've watched this like 4 times and only just caught how deep that "missing limbs" joke is in context to the song.

@tonygarcia2255 3 years ago

Dude I absolutely love how in depth your analysis is! You're attention to detail on the mix, use of instruments, lyrics, sub text, and just raw enjoyment of the track by track basis is so engaging to see! It was really refreshing to watch you go through every track and see your personal thoughts honestly.

Do you take requests by chance? Or features? Paid or otherwise? I would love to forward some music to you as my band is personally getting ready to move into our sophomore album and would absolutely LOVE some critiques of our debut. I'm sure you'll find a ton to latch on to, but we are also excited to have honed our sound for our LP2.

Either way, fantastic channel and fantastic reaction/analysis!!!!! Subbed!
