Accrington Stanley — who are they?

Most people know the name from a famous milk advert, but the real story is far more complicated. Accrington Stanley isn’t just one club — it’s the story of three different teams, spanning nearly 150 years of English football history.

From being founder members of the Football League, to folding twice, to an unlikely modern rise back into the League, this video explains how Accrington became one of the most unique names in English football.

If you enjoy football history, forgotten clubs, and the strange stories behind famous names — this one’s for you.

The milk advert would have been a reference to the original Accrington Stanley, just used as an obscure club, despite not existing any more. Virtually nobody back then would have known a new Accrington Stanley had been formed.

When referring to the Football League, keep the reference the same Division 4 - League 2, it's confusing, and it's a cheap corporate ploy to get more money out of hard-working fans, of course, since the Premier its really Division 3 the "LEAGUE"

Houses Divisions containing 24 in each, the divisions are not leagues, the league houses the lot, and you can say the same thing about all the Non-Leagues with similar formats, FA FUCKIN USLESS.
