Arthur is still hanging out in Valentine 7 years later on my ps4.

6 years ago, I was roaming or searching youtube and came upon this channel talking about this game called RDR2. At the time I was 61 years old and never owned a gaming system. I saw a lot of the games being released and these just did not interest me. I liked racing simulators but that was about it. Then I saw RDR2. That day I ordered a PS5 and a copy of RDR2. After 6 years I have yet to finish this game. The CD, I have the disk version of the PS5, the cd for RDR2 never leaves my PS5 unless my grandchildren come over. After 6 years of playing, I still enjoy this game so much. My wife likes watching as I play. Rock-Star hit it out of the ballpark when they made RDR2.

Hoping on rdr2 tonight.  Might accomplish nothing.  I have 270 hours and in chapter 3 still.

Really refreshing take man , we only play games to complete objectives and this just destroys the creativity of actually playing the game the way it’s intended to play

Hey mate, just wanted to say thanks for this video, it helped my mindset a bit. I was feeling pretty bummed out that I never have time to play anymore, I used to be able to play like 2 hours a day in college, but now with a family and a mortgage I am lucky if I get to play for 30 minutes most days. It's tough too because all my friends are still single, still playing for hours every day, so I feel like I'm missing out. Really refreshing to hear that a lot of others are going through the same thing, and that it's not a bad thing. Cheers for the great video!

I have always said, no matter what others say, as long as you play games that gives you the enjoyment you seek you can never play them wrong. You might not get the most out of the game but for someone not getting it is enough.

Being able to rediscover a game that gives you a different experience than before is a bonus.

I'm playing this game right now for the third time.  This time I am taking it slow and really appreciating the world that was created for us.

Yup.  I am that player.  The sensation of complete freedom to wander in a busily bustling, or emptily stark world, sometimes as John, sometimes Arthur, sometimes to chill and appreciate the world, sometimes to torment innocent folk for the heck of it, but nearly always just to be there, offline (I never play online) and to just be.  It’s very rare I’ll do a story mission.  I like the cowboy sim too much.
You’re not alone . . . “boah.”

Many thanks for this video. Your perspective rings true to me. I look forward to playing this game with no rush for a long time to come.

The way I approach gaming is I usually have three or four games I'm working on. I've usually got a shooter of some sort, some open world immersive thing like Red Dead redemption 2, and something casual and brainless for a short decompression sessions.

"Specific quality of quiet" well spoken sir

I'm in chapter 3. Now mostly i go on missions looking for trinkets, money, NPC requests, looking for cabins i haven't found yet. Saving most challenges for I've exhausted new little things. It's great. Escape into the late 1880's.

Same thing as with shows and books.  Rather than blitzing right through them, it's nice to enjoy the scenery.  And then you can dwell on them while doing other things in your life........and they can mesh with your reality if you let them.  Moving slowly means this can occur for weeks or months.

This is me. Thank you for this.

it took me 3 years to finish Ghost of Tsushima. I started in 2023 and finished it this summer. took me about a year to finish Witcher 3 back in the day. I like to take it slow and explore the World. sometimes that just takes too much time and I have to take a break from the game. then I dont play it for months. in RDR2 I would usually do a chapter, then take a break. never finished that game though but thats a different story.

Several thousand hours playing this masterpiece with various endings. Sometimes i grab my controller and before i know it i’ve played for hours, i’ve done nothing in those game hours but i’ve been totally engrossed in the game, rode around, did nothing memorable but still enjoyed the experience!

I really enjoyed your thoughts about that game, have a great day!

great scriptwriting skills!! i really like the way you form your thoughts into words, it shows your character and im so in for it :) i am wondering why the resolution of the video is so low though? might be the bitrate. excited to see more from you <3

I got about half way through chapter three and started a new game to savor horseshoe overlook and the opera from the phonograph. I'm taking my time on this playthrough.

Games are meant to immerse you in a world so vivid that real-life problems fade away. Living inside that world is far more rewarding than rushing through objectives. Moving at a slower pace makes every defeat against a tough enemy meaningful and turns scavenging or upgrading into a lived experience rather than an office checklist. The slow burn is what stays with you long after the credits roll-just like the way we played as kids. It's never about speedrunning progress; it's about savoring it. After dealing with the weight of everyday life, getting lost in a game is a healthy escape-far better than turning to destructive habits like alcohol or smoking.

Video games aren't meant to be treated like an office checklist. The real magic happens when you slow down and actually live in the world. Taking your time makes every tough defeat memorable, every upgrade earned, and the entire journey stick with you long after you put down the controller. It reminds me of gaming as a kid: exploring for the joy of it rather than rushing to the end. In a stressful world, slowing down to genuinely enjoy a game is the best, healthiest escape we have.
