Maybe lets not say to anyone that they should stop playing Piano

thanks i left this video 10 secs and proceeded to sell my piano, i cant tell the diff. thanks man

"you should stop playing piano" <- usually not a recommended thing for a piano teacher to say.

I will NEVER stop playing or improvising or writing music for piano. I've been obsessed with pianos and the sounds and music they make for as far back as my memory goes, and that's pretty darn far back to early childhood. I'm just a self taught amateur but it brings me great joy to play.

Couldn't last 1 sec when i saw that title

Thanks for the pedal camera. I feel like you responded to my comment in the previous video! And indeed this video I could see and hear the difference

Not using pedal is one of the most scary things I did in a while. Thanks for giving the courage to change old habits!

The piano pedal is harder than the clutch on a manual car

Dang it I’ll stop playing altogether

This is without question my biggest weakness right now. Definitely needed this video.

I’m way ahead of everyone. I never use the pedal.

I also don’t play the piano.

"Less pedal" can also mean to just not push it down as far. Someone once said that they can find 10 different levels of pedal on a good piano. There is something really nice about flowing with the pedal like a dance between the notes and the pedal, swaying in and out between the 10 levels (or more like 4 in my case). I always hated when people dropped the pedal and you hear it clunk so I tended to never let it go completely, so it was off but ever so close to being a little bit on. That meant I could really easily find the first level of pedal. The first level is a really nice way to blend the notes without it sounding muddy.

Das ist genau mein Problem und von nun an übe ich das so wie du es empfohlen hast. Das ist ein tolles Video, vielen Dank!

The choppiness of the first example can also be explained by some form of coordination injury that would originate from neck, chest, shoulders, into the arms. In people with posture injury. Very beautiful and precise playing mrs annique

I'm Lucky. I'm so slow with my right hand that the notes can't possibly get muddy, even with pedal. 🙂

beginner pianists after knowing, coordinating their 2 hands to play is not the end

thank you for the tips :) lots to work on

Thank you so much for these kinds of videos. 😊Now everyone go back practice!!!

I love this! I was born with one ear and mostly deaf on the ear I do have. I always feel I have to compensate for my hearing. I can hear a little difference when you played  it both ways. So that says something about my level of training. 🙅🏻‍♀️ I do have a music degree with concentration in piano. It's difficult to use pedaling correctly but I love the tips here. Especially when playing the melody on right hand while pedaling with the bass notes without playing them. I hope this makes sense.

Usually if I use my pedal too much  i need to fix my fingering
