I never thought I would get married until I met my husband. Weve now been married for over a decade. The thing that is different is that I wasn't going around acting like I was an authority on non-marriage. She doesn't just look like a hypocrite, she is a hypocrite.

She really said "not to kick her when she's down but uhh couldn't be me"

I’ve never seen someone so unaware declare so confidently how self-aware and intelligent they are

So it sounds like she had this stance bc she was possibly bitter? Met a good guy and had to pivot but now is trying to justify all the hate she put out while bitter instead of admitting she was wrong or she changed her mind??? She doesn’t believe in marriage but plans to now get married???

9 months!?!? Omfg be so for real girl. She spent so long yelling about never getting married and then got engaged LESS THAN A YEAR IN? Peak grifter behaviour tbh 😂 how embarrassing for her

Honestly I'm more surprised she confessed than anything. She could've gotten married and just presented as single online.

But then she wouldn't get the uptick of engagement from this video and the countless wedding content videos to come.

MJ is right. Consider the source of the advice. MJ is bitter, unhappy, and resentful. Why would anyone follow her advice to be unhappy?

My neck hurts from that content and tone whiplash. Goodness gracious!

There’s nothing wrong with changing your mind, but people have a hard time saying it out loud.

People need to also stop taking advice from influencers, they’re strangers. People change their mind all the time, this should’ve been expected from the get go.

in my opinion, i think she formed these opinions about marriage and love because of those bad experiences she mentioned, emphasising how tough she is made me think that she hasn’t fully healed from any of that and thats what led her to make that content, projecting the unhealthy coping mechanisms/thought patterns she picked up onto others. i also feel that she was in a lot of relationships for money/materialism and thats why she seems to only consider marriage as a transactional thing and it wasn’t until she met this current guy and saw there is more to it that she changed her opinion but cant admit it that way because shes still unhealed internally

It’s so easy to just say "maybe I’ll eat my words one day" or "this is an opinion subject to change, as is any opinion" or some shit like that. Dealing in extremes is for close minded ppl.😊

I had plans when I was younger. Marriage and a relationship were on the bottom of the list of things I wanted.

My husband took that notion, threw it in a ditch, set it on fire, then gave it a proper burial. 😂 I'm still chasing my dreams, the only difference is now I have a built-in best friend and cheerleader to spur me on. ❤

An hour and a half long video about someone I’ve never heard of, from one of my favorite channels, after arguably one of the most stressful days of my life? This sleep boutta be Scrumptious

Oof didn’t know her as I’m not on TikTok but she gives me charismatic cult leader grifter vibes. She’s not chill, and is hilariously bad at assessing the feedback and then throwing it back at her followers for believing her previous views. The lack of humility is wild, and rules for others but not oneself is next level ridiculous. But she makes a good point, we should be discerning about who we listen to, I’ll continue to not worry about her. Side note- engaged MJ lady, who are you trying to fool acting tough lol. For the love of cringe please stop it, it’s so embarrassing for you. Thanks for the fair and thoughtful video @briarchats!

I'm about halfway through the video but it's interesting to hear how she talks with a similar cadence to those alpha male influencers. Hell, you can probably find them saying the same things as her just about women instead and I guess at some point, you have to ask, "is this about marriage itself or the gender of the person I'd marry?" Because it honestly just feels like a lot of internalized misogyny/misandry that's being masqueraded under the guise of "marriage is an institution, you will make a huge mistake tying yourself down."

I'm not trying to agree or disagree with her, I think marriage is and can be a beautiful thing just as much as it can be destructive but I think approaching it solely as black OR white is a mistake.

Also I think if she had released a video where she announced being engaged then explained, "yeah I did and still do hold some of my former opinions. I can't explain everything because my partner and I prefer some things to be private but here's what happened throughout our relationship that changed my opinions." she might have had less backlash.

As I don’t use TikTok in Instagram, watching this content to me, it’s actually hilarious because I have really limited context of what people on the Internet are ranting like.

Clearly, as I am able to understand, I’m not missing much

Are we at a million subs yet?! Underrated creator alert ⚠️ 📢

So early, I don't have comments to read

it's giving she has trauma and never worked through it and made it everyone else's problem. girl i hate my ex too, he was a bastard, made my life harder, cheated on me, left me, traumatized me.
and i cried about it and laid in bed a lot about it but i got past it, found someone better and learned who i wanted to be with and who i didn't wanna be with. get over urself and stop acting like ur the ambassador of women. to then turn around be the woman version of Hub's Life. (but possibly worse, she's like the final boss of tiktok)

If we’re going to call them influencers but we can’t hold them accountable for what they say and how they say it, they are grifters at best. If we’re being serious it’s literally the job description of propagandists and so they need to be either clearer that their content is fiction or they need to be for real.

EDIT: the personal defense of professional consequences offered is unhinged. She got money for lying. Her audience is saying she should no longer receive money for lying. Her defenders are saying it’s perfectly acceptable she changed her mind and was a hypocrite in front of their faces and then repeatedly mocked them for calling that out because it’s not illegal. This isn’t about legality at all, this is about professionalism. If her audience fires her because they think she no longer serves them, they’re right to do so. That’s the risk that every artist takes and it’s more rarely unwarranted than other artists are often willing to admit.

EDIT 2: “if you ruined your life because I told you to that’s your fault and also I did you a favor” okay so she sounds like a cult leader
