This region of the Urals is cut off from the rest of the world by rivers, taiga, and impassable swamps. The only way to get here is by boat or helicopter. There's never been central electricity here, and life has existed completely off-grid for centuries. In this video, we'll travel hundreds of kilometers by ship across rivers and lakes on a mission to deliver supplies to remote villages. The expedition will take us through the harsh conditions of the Gulag prison camps and camps that once occupied these lands. And most importantly, we'll see how these reluctant hermits live in complete isolation in the most remote corners of the Ural taiga. The last remaining residents will tell us how it's possible to live without electricity, roads, or communications. Two years of preparation, a week of travel through the dying villages of the Urals, and complete immersion in the local reality far from civilization. This was true survival. My name is Sergey Volkov, and welcome to the world of the unknown and forgotten.
