EDIT: Thank you to the people pointing out that Zoe's nurse outfit was not an echo of Alessa's outfit from Silent Hill 1 and that it was actually an NHS uniform from the mid-1990s. That was my mistake.

Townfall is hitting people in very different ways, and I genuinely want to hear where everyone lands. Agree with me, disagree with me, disagree with each other—just remember that we’re all Silent Hill fans, and keep the conversation civil.

Zoes nurse uniform is actually based on a 1996 era NHS nurse uniform.

Silent Alien: Isolation Hill.

Maybe the real Silent Hill was the traumas we made along the way.

The only paralel i noticed was that both towns exist near a great body of water and accidents happened there.  I believe that the sky creature represents the oil rig.

This game really itched the right spots for me. The stealth was a bit overdone, but I don’t think I’ve seen such a high fidelity game ever. Being able to walk up and read EVERYTHING was so immersive and mindblowing.

Story was also good, but a bit convoluted for how simple it actually is. Really wish there was more of a connection to the original lore.

One big thing that disappoints me is that the announcement trailer they dropped 3 years ago made it sound like the game was going to explore the etymology of Silent Hill's power....and then in the final game Silent Hill isn't so much as mentioned anywhere.

I personally think that red light symbolizes signal flares, which were used during the South Well disaster. I'd love it if there was a more clear connection between St Amelia and the town of Silent Hill, but I doubt there is. Enjoyed the game a lot though! ^^

Just another day in Scotland

i found the pharmacy poster puzzle to be one of the best puzzles i've had the pleasure of doing, it managed to balance the fine line of "this is way too convoluted to actually be the solution" and "im so smart im an actual genius!".
Very satisfying in my opinion.

Terry O'Quinn is unbelievably cool in Millennium, too

For me, the trying to piece together some of the details at the end of the story was difficult due to the ramped up pacing (story-wise) at the end.

There were obvious influences from SH2, but also Alan Wake with the spiral/loop metaphor.  They even have the main corporation logo of CEG as a sea shell in a spiral shape (maybe a conch shell?) and the "loops" within the story that made me think Alan Wake.  And just like a spiral, the story started out wide and slow, then as we're getting closer to the end started to pick up the pace the closer to the center we went.  So, when everything happened at the end, it was like a varied montage of information came at me rapid fire.  The red squares I think was done well to both give a nod to SH2, but also reinforce that the fact that the character(s) are there to gain awareness... square the circle, bring the unconscious to consciousness.  (LOL!  Felt like I was going through the same journey, especially when Simon was like "I don't understand...")

And as mentioned, there were some things that made an appearance or had prolonged focus but just was never addressed afterwards that didn't help the confusion.  I'm also of the opinion that if you have a SH game, there needs to be something there to tie it back to the OG town or the cult.  It doesn't need to be big or obvious.  Because, now it appears that this phenomena can just happen anywhere on the planet willy-nilly and opens up some questions about the SH universe itself.

I will hold onto everything else as I don't want to spoil anything.  But overall, especially design-wise, it was a pretty good game.  Just maybe not necessarily a SH game, although a lot of the SH formula was there.

I really hope devs at bloober team take all the critisisms of SH2 R, SH f & SH TF, & perfectly calibrate combat & exploration for SH 1 R, I've high hopes for future of series

I spent 10 minutes carefully sneaking around and exploring every room and picking up items, and enjoying the creepy atmosphere and dread... only to have THAT GUY kill me instantly, and send me back to a point where I had to do it all the exploring and looting again, and then a couple more times trying to figure out what he was reacting to and why I couldn't go anywhere without him on my ass even if he would chase a bottle across the map for ten seconds. It made me hate that part of the game and I ended up fed up and not wanting to explore any part of the level he showed up in.

I am a very, very new Silent Hill fan and have only really gotten into the series the past few years. So I definitely can't judge how well this game fits into the series nearly as well as many others. That being said, I actually just really, really disliked this game's story, and it seems to me like that's the part this game really needed to get right. And the kind of tropes that the story and its ending rely on seem to kind of become a pattern with this series.

Mildly unrelated but every time I see a photo of Max I'm reminded of just how tall he is compared to like every other content creator and I think that's really funny

I felt like the world was way too empty, exploring did not reward you in any way and the otherworld just being red felt lazy. Another part that really bothered me was that only key objects were interactable, compared to SH2R there was a suspense of bashing against every door to maybe get it to open, but in townfall there was no trying. The game was basically look for the circle indicating that something is interactable and wait way too long for enemies to move. But to end on a positive note, I liked the story even though it didn’t really fit being a silent hill game, and the puzzles were very creative and memorable, but a bit too easy

Something I really liked was some of the button interfaces with the puzzles. Felt like you were really using a legitimate machine/computer while referencing instructions in your other hand.

I personally think that with a more disturbing, grimy and overall interesting Otherworld and monster designs, this game had potential to be one of the greats. So many interesting ideas and concepts, but as detailed it was, other sections felt so rushed and bland. Speaking of bland, my biggest criticism is Simon. His character is quite boring, and his actions and reasoning makes no sense. His take on this needed to have more at stake. The acting was subpar, and his reactions to his environment and experiences completely pale to other protagonists.

I agree that Richard and Zoe were well done. But I wanted more about them. And I also think adding a 4th primary character to the story could have made things more interesting. Maybe more about that damn doctor that pressured Zoe. Why did he do that? Was he under pressure himself? He just seemed so one-dimensional and cruel for the sake of being a prick.

With the lacking on the Otherworld and the protagonist this game only ends up being a 6/10 for me, which is a shame. With some minor tweaks and more disturbing elements, this could have been fantastic.

With all the mystery and walking around an abandoned area post catastrophe the game hit a lot like a TCR title. Funny enough Kezia Burrows was in Everyone's Gone to Rapture. The stealth and combat is a lot like Alien Isolation too which also features Kezia Burrows.

My girlfriend actually thought the game was like Myst, because of how much walking and puzzles were involved. It's interesting to see that DNA passed down Townfall. Then of course you've got the Lost influence which you mentioned. Overall loving the concepts here!
