I’m enjoying this series more than the main channel, you can hear the joy in Drinker’s voice come out every time

Being Belgian, I can say that you can add to Van Damme's story that most of TV personalities mocked the man, mostly because he spent his time mixing english slangs (in English words) into French or Flemish sentences, weither it was Belgian comedians or French TV Hosts, they were all taking shots at him, wich is funny when you remember the guy predicted Netflix back in 2003, and was laughed at by everyone in the studio for explaining that "Soon we're gonna watch movies without any physical support, it's gonna happen in the US pretty soon".

Drinker's recommendations never failed me so far. I'm convinced

JCVD was also a decent villain in the Expendables 2 movie, really thought he could have played more villains instead of trying to
do the same old movies. Nice to see he has tried something different with this movie.

JCVD's monologue had this completely desensitized to most all things in this world old man crying like a wee lad.  You had it right drinker, the monologue works on many levels - it's a glimpse into broken man's psyche who is most likely wreaked with equal parts regret and guilt; at the same time, it's such an amazing and honest performance that it leaves the viewer in a similar state of angst, left wondering about what his career could have been outside of simply being the action star that can do the splits.  Just great stuff.  Okay, I'm going away now.

The most unexpected and unforgettable 4th wall break ever

Jean Claude Van Damme in Bloodsport was the reason I started Karate lessons. Even made it to brown belt.

I was a fan of his back in the day, but when i first saw JCVD, i cried. Lamenting that such a talented actor could be stuck in such a trap of a grind, i really felt for him. Then i felt so cheated by hollywood for penning in such people and robbing us of the true potential of such a person. This movie was an amazing surprise.

This man inspired so much people just by being such a skilled performer. For many he's a hero, so he made a difference.

These are the films I find myself drawn to these days. Not whiz bang effects, not lens-flares and whiny SJW messaging or smug unearned self righteousness. Just people trying to find their way, and sometimes faltering in the process. You know... stories about people.

The 'JCVJ' miniseries on Amazon is absolutely hysterical.

I didn’t realize that The Drinker’s career path is close to JCVDs. That’s amazing and I bet Tatiana is appreciative of the extra monies his fame and fortune brings to the club.

The monologue made me cry & im not embarrassed to admit it, I don’t cry easy, but I guess I see a lot of myself in him & it made me realise that the older we get the more we regret some of the life choices we’ve made.
The opening to the movie is epic as well, this movie is so underrated it’s unreal.

I met him and spoke with him at length when he was in his hayday.  Outwardly cocky and full of himself, after a while the real JCVD came out... he is a humble man who acknowledges Luck plays a bigger role than talent.  He has had fate help him and hinder him as well.

His monologue in this made me feel deeply empathetic towards him. When he claimed he "accomplished nothing" I felt so profoundly sad for him. All that money and fame, touching so many people's lives, my own included, yet feeling empty. I would love so desperately to write to him and tell him how he inspired me to get in shape, apply myself to martial arts and improve my life for the better. He was kind of a douche and narcissistic, but I always found him personable.

jean-claude's appearances on french talk shows are epic, especially the one where he's all coked up and fully dressed in orange

In the later 80s I worked part time at a nice hotel gym in Washington DC and various people of note stopped by. Van Damme came in while I was working the desk and you could tell he was cocky and feeling good about life. I saw him stretching later and his physique was movie perfect. I said to myself, self, normal Joes don't look like this. Same with Arnold, who was a member for a week. The most charismatic, friendly, and positive person I'd ever encountered.

Jean Claud was the man !! After watching 'Kickboxer,' as a kid, I almost broke my shin trying to kick down a tree! JCVD is a great movie!

Best acting he ever did. Playing himself.

I always thought Jean-Claude Van Damme had some range.
