So after 5 years, it’s now time, we need this change!

In this video we discuss how we have hit a milestone, 5 years onboard our floating home Rhapsody in Blue! We reminisce about the 4 winters we have spent out on the canals, through all sorts of weathers and that we are looking forward to winter number 5 and hoping for snow!

We also reminisce on how we accidentally fell into being YouTube vloggers and how we embrace everything that comes with it, our wonderful online community, fantastic viewers and fabulous personal comments … but … we feel it is time to make a change!
We hope you agree after watching this, that it was something we needed to do!

Subtle to you, but a big change for us ….. all explained in the video!

So, facing our fifth winter out on the cut, as Autumn is upon us, it is time to service, clean and light the Refleks Stove, getting prepared for when it gets cold!

Martin first gives the flue guard a polish…wow what a difference! He then shows how he cleans the fuel filters, the one at the diesel tank and the one attached to the stove, before cleaning the inside of the Refleks body. Once satisfied that everything is clean, it’s time to light the fire.

We light our Refleks Stove using methylated spirit and Julie shows how this is done. Be prepared for a small bang/explosion as the meths ignites in a split second, but totally safe.
We managed to get a screen shot of the moment the flame ignited, for our thumbnail, but don’t worry, it’s all ok.

We like all the beautiful scenery as you cruise the canals. Reminds us of our childhood. We also enjoy your sense of humor as you joke around with each other. “Wowsers” is our favorite word that Julie says. It puts a smile on our faces.

Hi guys, love the name change, it's to the point, putting narrow boat at the beginning should take people right there now. Congrats for the five years on Rhapsody. We loved the pics, you both look a lot younger in the early pics. I didn't realize you had blacked Rhapsody yet, Juliet was wondering what was on your face in that pic, When I saw the boat was in dry dock I knew exactly what you were doing.😶‍🌫😂😂 That vid of the snow coming down looked magical, like a Christmas movie. Yes to the maintenance vids, it doesn't matter if you are just a handy man, your never too old to learn something, and I'd say Martin would have some handy tips to share. You both have done a grand job looking after Rhapsody you would never think she was 22 years old. We are looking forward to seeing the interior renovations, should make a good series of videos. Please stay safe guys and we hope you come good soon from the flu. Ok, a quickie or two. How can you tell what sex an ant is, Put it in water, if it sinks it's a girl, if it floats it's boyant.😂😂🤣🤣 My sister had twins, a boy and a girl. Yes please. It's good to see what's involved in maintaining a narrowboat and engine because sometimes people romanticise life on the cut and get upset when they discover it's not all sunshine and roses. Anyone contemplating narrow boat living need to know the warts & all involved.

So glad the vlogs will be continuing. As to the engine servicing and the DIY - I’m sure it will be just as good to watch. Me the OH spend a lot of time watching (mostly) men fettling motorbikes so it makes a nice change watching narrowboats being maintained. ❤. 🏍️
