Liking the videos, keep it up man! To answer a few of your questions:
1. 13:47 - Yes, the 24M is offered to his current club (Marseille) so that Chelsea can start negotiating a contract with Drogba. If Drogba agrees, Marseille gets paid 24M and Drogba now plays for Chelsea under his newly negotiated contract.

2. 15:00 - Champion's League differs in that basically every game matters tremendously, especially when you get to the knock-outs. Any of the regular leagues like Premier League, La Liga etc you know that you play 38 games and the team with the most points at the end wins. You can afford to lose or draw a bunch before there's any consequences. Not in Champion's League, you either win or you don't get to continue playing. Some players like the added pressure of "You gotta bring your A-game, and that still might not be enough", and the prestige of playing other world-class teams.

3. 20:00 - You are confused. Drogba played for his national team, Ivory Coast, but they lost to Egypt in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). But he's also playing for his club, Chelsea, so after AFCON he played well for Chelsea in two of the English Club Cups, the Carling Cup and the FA Cup. So although Drogba lost with Ivory Coast in AFCON, and in the Premier League with Chelsea, he still won two (lesser) trophies with Chelsea that year.
I do understand the confusion, American sports don't really do national team stuff in the middle of club seasons like football does. But to be super clear: Clubs never do national stuff (AFCON, Euros etc) and the only place clubs play teams outside of their continent (European vs African club for example) is in preseason tours (which do not count for anything), or if they do super well on their continent and get to play in the Club World Cup that's every 4 years (next is in 2029). Chelsea is the reigning champ, having beaten PSG 3-0 in the 2025 final.

4. 27:35 - It was not a case of "getting rid of" Drogba. True, he was 34 at the time and had dealt with injuries. But the main reason is that Drogba did not like the way Chelsea was managed after Jose Mourinho left, so he let his contract run out and then went somewhere else for free. Meaning Chelsea did not get paid anything when Drogba left. In an interview after he signed that final contract, Drogba said: "Something is broken in Chelsea. Since the day I arrived, I wanted to leave Chelsea and then again every summer. Nothing can stop me from leaving now." His goodbye to the fans and fellow players was very sweet and grateful, but it's quite clear he did not like the higher ups of the club very much.

The problem with 25 is that if you're not a top player by 25 most likely you're not gonna be a top player.

Champion league is a competition not a league, a competition that only the top 4 from each league can compete in.

the problem with Drogba being 25 by that time was that he still hadn't established himself or had a breakout season, not that he was already 'old' or anything. by that age your career path/trajectory is usually crystallized so if you're not showing promise by then it's probably wraps. but he bloomed late which was surprising, especially since he didn't sign a professional contract until his 20s which is highly unusual as most players get their first around 17 or 18.
football peaks are generally between 27 and 32 like you said, but the player typically already has a number of good seasons behind them that lead up to that peak.

Drogba plays in AFCON, not the European club. That is because AFCON is an international tournament, so Drogba plays with Ivory Coast national team.

King Didier

10:46 the problem is that by that age, he wasn’t showing signs of reaching a high enough level in the future. He was an anomaly in that he only reached the top of the game until late in his career.

The only other story that comes to mind is Jamie Vardy, but his was different as he never believed football would be his path, but played went from the 5th tier of English football, to winning the PL title in like 5 years

Please do ngolo kante next

When he says drogba preferred the champions league it just means he always scored in it not like because it was a playing style thing just like a coincidence he always scored like the way some players have a club they always score agaisnt same type of thing and for drogba that was also usually arsenal he scored agaisnt them most times he played against them.

5:48 yes local clubs in europe (and probably south america) definitely take in immigrants. Its pretty common for a youth club coaches to even pay your fee if they are really poor and have potential

The champions league is more open, cause that game matter at that moment so teams try to win each game rather than try to Aquire a certain amount of wins in a 30 plus game league season

Respect brother from south america🙏🏾💪🏾

Champions league is a playoff competition played by the best team from all Europen teams......All 4 top teams from all across European league and it is the most prestigious trophy in club football.....if u win this trophy u are regarded as best club of the season in the world......every player priorities this league as to perform best at the biggest stage of club football.

Ive met him in London 2006. Nicd guy very good speaker and had a sense of humour.

you're confused about 'Europeans being able to play in Afcon'. AFCON is a African international football competition. The European domestic clubs allow (or sometimes try to stop) their African players to go and represent their country in the AFCON..so for e.g Mo Salah is released to play for Egypt for 4 weeks or however long they last in the competition.

A couple of comments and answers. It's a long one, but hopefully you'll read it.

Drogba didn't like the Champions League because of other rules - the rules are the same pretty much. He liked it because it's the most prestigious club tournament of them all, it's the most spotlight you can ever get as a player from a European club.

Champions League doesn't really have its own "style", as it's all the styles from all the countries clashed together to determine who's the best. Champions League isn't a local league like the English or the Spanish premierships, it's a competition above country level that invites teams who won or almost won their national leagues. Basically an all-star competition for the clubs from all around Europe.

Then concerning where all these tournaments come from. Drogba as a successful international player had two duties - his club (Chelsea in England) and his national team (Ivory Coast). The club can't pick what tournaments to play, it's all mandatory. As a Chelsea player in 2006-2007 season he had:
- Premier League - the main English league, 38 matches with points for wins and draws, yadda yadda
- Carabao Cup aka the English Football Association cup or the FA cup for short - a knockout tournament (you lose a match - you're out until there's only one left). It's the oldest club tournament in the world and it invites almost all the clubs from the top nine (!) divisions of the English football system, of which there are currently 747. Yes, 747, this is not a typo, and yes, 90% of them are fully amateur teams with zero contracts, salaries or TV broadcasts. Top teams start from round 4 based on their position in the league table, most of the actual amateurs are out by that point. A Premier League team winning the FA Cup plays 7 matches in this cup, from round 4 to the finals.
- the English Football League cup aka the EFL Cup - same thing as the previous cup, but instead of all 747 teams, only the professional teams are invited - that's 92 teams from the first four divisions of the English football that form the actual professional Football League, hence the name (the divisions are Premier Legaue, Championship, League One and League Two). Division 5 and lower are called Non-League and are considered either semi-professional or completely amateur, since they can't afford all the legal things like contracts. This tournament is completely useless in terms of prize pool, but it's still 6 matches from start to the finals. Tournaments like the FA Cup and the EFL Cup are the reason some clubs have more players, so that their main players don't run out of form playing against lower level teams in the middle of the week, so they usually let less powerful players to play and give them a chance to prove themselves.
- Community Shield - a one-match tournament between the winners of last season's Premier League and FA Cup - it's more of a charity event, but still considered a somewhat prestigious trophy (if the same team won both cups, the match is played between the winner and the runner up of the Premier League).
- UEFA Champions League or the UCL- the all star competition for European clubs, Chelsea qualified for it in the previous season by winning the Premier League. That's up to 10 matches if you go all the way to the finals
So if you want to win it all with your club, it's 62 games over 9 months - that's your club season basically. Even more these days, as they added more matches to the Champions League.

And then you have your national team and whatever tournaments and friendlies it plays - club season has official "breaks" for about 2-3 weeks every several months for that. You leave your club, go to your country and play those matches, then return to your club. This is usually either not paid or the salary is symbolic, the national team call is basically community service - the country calls and you answer. So that's where all the African tournaments in the video come from. European clubs can't play African tournaments, but African players can join European clubs if they are good enough.

Finally, they didn't "get rid" of him. He was already 36 in 2012, very few players can physically withstand the level of competition in England at that age. He won everything and moved on in the status of an undeniable Chelsea legend. He is still the club ambassador for a lot of non-football activities and charities. But where he wouldn't be effective in England, he was more than competent for a less physically intense Super League in Turkey (it's the name of their own "Premier League"). At that time it was normal to move to Turkey or China at 30+ to prolong your career a bit (right now its MLS and Saudi Arabia).

George Weah probalbly the best African player ever. Retire now. Was feared like Messi and Ronaldo.
