I really miss the ambition of the Krakoan era. There've been some gems like NYX, UX and Storm in the current era, but overall it feels like a huge step back. Thanks for making all of these videos!

Hickman leaving truly derailed the X-Men, and it was such a winning streak. Like, we could have had our cake and eat it too woth returning to the mansion and leaving Krakoa be.

Despite the Krakoa era ending on a weak note, I am grateful that the whole thing did leave behind something the X-books have been missing for a long time: Hope.  Peace for mutants is possible and they can achieve it.  I've read a few future stories where things end up great for other heroes like the FF, Ironman, and even Spidey but not the X-Men.  It's nice to think things can end up alright for them now.

I'll be honest...... I hated Beast during the Krakoan Era with a passion.

31:43 This quote, to me, says it all. Hickman knew Krakoa couldn’t last forever, but the rest of the X-Desk couldn't let it go. So when its time ran out, the send-off was bitter, not sweet.

This felt as personal as an event or events after what most felt were Marvel kicking the corpse of X-Men in comics for years prior. Them losing numbers, fallout from House of M. Glad to see that despite all the vast, vast stories, there's a thread about them actually surviving all odds and being a dominant species besides humanity.

For me, Kieron Gillen, Al Ewing and Si Spurrier were the real MVPs of Destiny & Fall of X. It felt like they were actually talking to one another when writing their stuff, and Sins of Sinister was such an incredible event. All their Before the Fall one-shots were great as well.

So much hype going in, only for the wind to all but completely leave the sails when it was announced Hickman was leaving.

Personally the return to the status quo feels more insulting here then "Spider-Man must always be broke".

I miss Krakoa. I wasn’t fully on board but once I started reading it, the more I started to like it. The similarities to the Dune books especially appealed to me.

I will die on the hill that Sins of Sinister was, almost entirely, fucking amazing stuff. It perfectly captured the intellectual heady themes of Hickman's era, but also embraced the goofy pulp sci-fi elements along with it, and gave us some absolutely incredible characters in the process. I am so mad that Rasputin IV and Jon Ironfire have just been tossed into the abyss of forgotten characters. For that matter what the hell is going on with Mars/Arrako and why is Marvel pretending it doesn't exist anymore?

X-Men? More like X-cellent video, Doug!

Thank you for posting this on my Birthday 😊💜

I WILL bring peace and order to this chaotic world and ONLY I WILL accomplish it.

This was a great video, excellent work.

It had so many excellent ideas... Moira changing the reality, the Dominion, Childs of tomorrow, Orchid...  Mr. Sinister and Excalibur  and.... THAT is the problem. TOO many, not really focusing on something, things changing with crazy frequency not really finishing or telling the story but jumping from one situation to the other and back all the time

I feel like we're just marking time in this next phase until the MCU gets the X-films going, then it'll be those ideas that end up directing events in the X-books after this current set of stories.

Thanks for the video!

Oddly enough, there have been changes in the Imperial line due to low pre-orders as well as reception in the books, brought up by Stephanie Phillips in an interview with The Comics Pals podcast. Plus, in an interview with Tom Breevort on X-Men Monday, there were original plans to bring Jean/Phoenix into the Imperial story, but changes happened as well as limited time in development.

Great video!
