The more time I spend with these Panameras, the more I’m becoming fond of them. What do you think?

You should do that 1000mile road trip to see if it’s possible! That would be a good video to watch!

I had that exact one..in white with those rims.. best car ive had.

Having owned two Porsches with this same Audi VW 3.0 TDI (CTBA) engine at different mileages, I honestly wouldn’t recommend this engine in a Porsche. They’re super expensive to maintain and it just seems like the bills keep on coming. While you can cross-reference some parts with Audi/VW, the labour and overall cost of working on them still adds up very quickly as they are packed so tightly. Across my two cars, I’ve had the crankshaft pulley fail, EGR cooler seals fail, injector seals fail, brittle plastic cooling system components fail, transmission flywheel issues, significant carbon buildup throughout the intake which chokes the engine, PCV failure and plenty of other smaller issues. They also have issues with timing chains on the earlier models and the chain is at the back so it is an engine out job.

What frustrates me most is that I ignored my initial feeling about this engine when I sold my first Cayenne. I had it first in a 2013 Porsche Cayenne Diesel with 90,000 km and, despite that experience, went back to the same engine in my 2017 Porsche Macan S Diesel. In hindsight, I really wish I’d gone for the 3.6 V6 or the V8. Just some genuine real-world feedback from someone who has actually owned two of them.

Personally, I think it is a beautiful looking car, thoughtfully designed and driver focused they produce a precision driving experience - when it all works

There is a tail light mod where the rear quarters and lights are replaced by a light bar which makes it look a lot better

Spooky! I was browsing the internet looking at this actual car this morning.

The 3.0 tdi - amazing engine when it works but i know of 2 major issues to look out for. 1 timing chain rattle on start up ( chains are at the back on the gearbox side - minimum of a 4k job- can start around 70k if your unlucky ) 2 water leaks into the valley ( the inside of your v of your engine ) most of the electrics are here and you'll have a very bad day - ruined my bosses wiring loom which then shorted out his gearbox ecu - car was sat in work for 6 months haha

Worth considering the Audi A7 bitdi, shares components with the Panamera, with the bonus of 5 seats. They also have 320BHP 😅great video ❤

I always think that era of Porsche centre console is inspired by Nokia phones, which now is looking a tad dated. However, I’m gonna be looking for a replacement for my 127k mile 987 Cayman in the next 6 months or so, and this Panamera would make a somewhat left field choice , food for thought 😊

Owned a 15 plate diesel for 3 years... Was a great car and the looks definitely grow on you. Looks are subjective but it's most definitely identifiable as a Porsche and I'd prefer to drive one of these any day over an xf; xj, A7 5 series eclass, etc I find in my personal experience that detractors haven't owned one and slate it out of envy. Interior may be slightly dated now but the quality is exceptional. Munches miles and plenty fast enough for UK roads and conditions... A proper quality bargain car. It's not a performance car for petrol heads but is an exceptional executive car. Also feel good factor and sense of occasion matter surely. But don't take my word for it there's a YouTube video that Chris Harris posted on a panamera diesel MK1.. watch it and you'll see how good this model is even in petrol head terms

I drove from London to Genoa via Mt Cenis in my 2013 Panamera diesel and was amazed at how far I got before I had to stop to fill up. In the end I mainly stopped to get a coffee and a stretch, the car had loads of miles left in it. Best car I’ve ever had. Love it. As for the looks we all hated the looks Cayenne when it was first launched. We soon got used to it. Buy a good one you definitely won’t regret it.

A great all round GT type car. A friend had a 2015 and it was fantastic to own and drive. There’s always a but..A squeak developed on the spoiler as it raised that needed a replacement hinge - £480. Then some clot managed to damage the fuel cap and the replacement was over £500 for a tiny door. These cars a easy to buy and drive, just keep a couple of grand spare. I drive a L494 Hybrid and have been lucky to date, but the peace of mind you have from the contingency fund makes ownership of the nice, easy to access financially cars, easier to live with. Great job Joel! Hope you are enjoying being a parent!

They are a very underrated but unfortunate looking car, but like you say very spec dependent .  I still think for this price point an XJ is obscenely good value for money.

On the market for a facelift one currently, simply because they are such amazing value for money. But in my humble opinion they need to be in a dark colour, look classy.

I have a 2014 diesel Porsche Panamera (95k miles) which has lots of factory options and I absolutely love it. It is particularly good for long distance holidays from Sussex to the Lake District and Pembrokeshire with our golden retriever owning the boot space.  Always get over 45mpg on a run like that. Otherwise it is my daily! Mine is dark grey and I agree white is the colour to avoid. I have the money to replace it but quite honestly I don't want a car with lots of screens and no buttons so I will stick with this car for as long as I can. One thing I would strongly recommend is really good maintenance (Only costs a little more on average than most other luxury cars), but ensure you change the gearbox oil every 40K miles or so if you want that Tiptronic box to keep going until 200K miles.

Loved the 3.0 v6 audi engine. Had an a5 stage two kicking out a little more. Would have had another if they still made a manual. It loved to go yet 47mpg on a long journey.

Yes,
I love these types of videos. I enjoyed the Jag video and this is a good one. A car that can do 1600 to a 1800 on a tank of fuel is amazing.
Joe Achilles did a video on the BMW 730d, he drove from London to Barcelona on less than 78L, averaging around 24km/ litre,  amazing,  albeit slightly boring

New to your channel, clicked on the recommendation.
Couple of years ago I was in the market for a large diesel but admit porsche never came to mind.
I bought an Alpina D5 which I absolutely love, though watching your video in hindsight I would have definitely considered a Panamera.

So good to see how your channel grow 🙌🏻  well deserved. an old subscriber
