John Kiriakou, a former officer at the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and a member of the team involved in tracking Al-Qaeda after the September 11, 2001 attacks.
How does the CIA recruit its agents?
And how does it recruit local spies in different countries?
Was the United States aware of the September 11 events in advance?
John Kiriakou shared the beginnings of his CIA career and his specialization in analyzing Iraq’s internal situation before moving to the field operations division. Due to his mastery of Arabic, he spent his career moving between Greece and Bahrain, and later Pakistan, where he led the team tracking Al-Qaeda, which culminated in the capture of Abu Zubaydah, who remains detained in Guantanamo.
Kiriakou resigned in 2004, and due to leaking information described as classified regarding systematic CIA torture methods, he served two years in prison.
