Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate has SO MUCH hidden lore locked behind some of the hardest to find collectibles I've ever seen in a game. But let me tell you, these Detective Cases have some of the juiciest lore details in the entire saga! And I'm about to break down every single one of them in this video here. Seriously, we all need to stop sleeping on this game, it's freaking great!

Since the original Toyman's real name is Winslow Schott, (Hiro Okamura is a more heroic version)it explains why Riddler in Arkham Knight would use his toy store as a robot factory in Catwoman's Revenge, after his death in Blackgate his store was long abandoned.

Also considering in Arkham Shadow Batman is also investigating Amanda Waller with some of the memory echoes like Deathstroke and Catwoman, but so far has no leads yet

It’s funny that joker saw black gate as his dream home… Only to burn it down before the events of Arkham Asylum. Guess he figured all of the fancy upgrades Tyger gave the prison “ruined his happy home”

Black Mask: You took everything from me.

Joker: I don’t even know who you are.

I love how this is basically a suicide squad story that just turns into a Batman story because they stepped in his turf

Grundy living in the sewers may have been taken from the Long Halloween, where Batman finds him during Thanksgiving

It's cool that Arkham shadow even makes references to Origins Blackgate. Bronze Tiger is still in Blackgate in shadow. He says he turned down time off his sentence. Because he still has a debt to pay back to society.

Ok we NEED these guys to make another Arkham game. They clearly have massive respect for the series

In Arkham Shadow; The Albino Man poster can be purchased from Joe. The blowtorch is in penguins cell. Jokers maps are in his cell, as are the spray cans. His gas mask matches scarecrows. Harleys personel file is in Cranes testing room. Floyds target can be purchased from Joe. The only cell with an ashtray outside of it is Vertigo, who's files were burned. The phone number mix up is wierd. Banes pod is outside Cranes office. There are probably even more; but almost all of these are referenced in Shadow directly.

Black mask: you ruined my life

Joker: do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?

17:04 I just realised that this actually explains why Harley was giving him Cheese Whizz during their interview Tape in Arkham Shadow, implying that Joker was either preparing to make more Laughing gas once he escaped or that he was still making it even after the riot ended. Once more, I’m amazed at how Camouflaj included so many deep cut references in the game, especially with something like this which many people may not have found

it is wild to me that this game added the detail that black mask kept a photo of his lost girlfriend, that's a level of pathos he's NEVER had and I love it - I wish they'd do more with his revenge plans. them also never getting anywhere is also depressingly funny ngl

20:02 If I was selling something, and The Joker offered me an IOU for "eleventy billion dollars" I would totally accept it. Not only would I be terrified of declining him, but he quite frequently has a lot of resources, so you might be able to cash it in for something good someday.

Blackmask: You took everything from me.

The Joker: Uh, who are you? *Looks at a thug* Who's this guy?

And now we also know how Joker got the resources for the Joker Gas. In one of Arkham Shadow’s patient interview tapes, Harley reveals that she has been smuggling in spray cheese for Joker, assuming that it is just a snack he loves.

23:54 Missed opportunity to play that Robot Chicken clip of the multiple villains with ice guns: "How do you high school dropouts keep making them?! Are they as easy to build as ham radios, and I'm just some asshole?!"

The weirdest thing about this game is that Deathstroke is completely omitted from it, despite having that “post-credits scene” with Waller at the end of Origins.

Man it would have been so cool to actually have the suicide squad the Arkham verse was building up

You're actually bang on the money! In the very earliest Suicide Squad comics, the team members would be afixed with explosive bracelets rather than neck bombs.

14:18 It's also a reference to the '66 Adam West show, which had an episode of the same name. Fun fact: this was the first out-of-comics appearence of the Joker.

Also, nice to see that the Lore-Collection series is back. After the City, Origins and Knight tapes, this was a welcome addition.
