Of course Ubisoft would opt out 😂

The best thing about this is that it lets you play your Disc Xbox games on PC or PC handhelds. Thats a huge W

This is a huge win for xbox and players. Especially in the same month Sony sent out emails to tell players they don't own their games.

really wanted 360 and original xbox games to work

This is the reason why competition is so important in the gaming space. Having choices and one company doing something the other won’t applies pressure and can benefit the consumers.  (Hopefully)

There’s over 200 delisted games that actually work with disc to digital.

I was able to claim the Rock Band 4 digital license and it is delisted with expired copy right music rights.
Also; all of my old RB4 dlc showed up and was downloadable.

the forza games were added a day after the test went live

Thanks for covering this!!! Really good to know and I hope we all, as consumers, continue to get better digital game-owning rights.

They also announced they introduce caps to Cloud Streaming among their library.

Tbh this is a really good idea as it allows people to still own the game itself(disc), but basically now lets you play a previously only-console game on, say, a xbox ally for ABSOLUTELY FREE, and also helps them make a new reputation as the "console-gamer-saviour"!🔥

Xbox could do something really funny and recreate the PS4 disk sharing vid

Not surprised Ubisoft opted out of this at all. They absolutely hate the idea of you owning your games in any way as they came out and said themselves. A shame, but I'm not shocked.

I'm glad Nintendo at least made the option for Game Key Cards to have a pseudo-physical game as an option. It's still not preferable, but it is better than developers opting to make their games eShop accessible only. I will always prefer the game to be on the card. So far, it seems like the Red team and Green team are the only ones with a plan to keep physical going for a little bit, with Red making sure physical in some form or another, stays regardless of the times

The fact that as a result of this, Xbox One is now able to "play" discs meant for Series X/S is honestly amazing. Microsoft just made buying physical games much more valuable.

As for PlayStation; I'm not sure they can, for the same reason Xbox cannot enroll discs made in the first year of production; the DRM system that Microsoft uses to do this just doesn't exist on PlayStation. Reminder that this feature only exists because Microsoft already had the foresight with Xbox One on where things were gonna go; the ooh-so-hated DRM features of that console is what made this possible in the first place. We could have had this back in 2013 if the internet didn't have such a knee-jerk reaction to the Xbox One.

thanks for the shout out!

Im just waiting for xbox to hit playstation with "this is how you share games on project helix"

I bought so many more physical Xbox games after they announced this disc to digital feature!! What a great time to be an Xbox gamer! 😍

This works because of the unique ID strings Xbox put on all their discs shortly after the Xbox One launched. This allows Xbox to identify one disc specifically. Sony never gave unique IDs to individual discs for PS4 or PS5 discs, so it's impossible for them to implement this in any way. It's all a bit ironic after the E3 2013 sharing games video Sony made.

Just another reason why I love my series X.

Xbox has never missed an opportunity to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory since 2013.
