That introductory scene was… interesting

I think the true scariest thing in this video is seeing your items despawn as soon as you finally get back to them

it should be noted that the "god is coming" audio and countdown is from a game called squirrel stapler :)

Holy shit the reveal of the infector just being a pointless intro to the damned was shocking. I thought itd be one of those infection mods, like the flesh that hates type beat. That's ridiculous.

Theres something so undoubtedly funny about getting a message that states "God is watching. You are here in this world to stop God."

And it ending in fucking "Thanks to our sponsors!"

God decided to dox you because he KNEW you were going to make that intro, and it was pre-emptive punishment.

The scariest part about these mods is that too many of them choose to not try and match Minecraft's standard modeling style and thus look really out of place and much funnier than they probably intend to.

Gotta judge the original dweller now: the Enderman.

Appears, interferes subtly with your playstyle, you look at it, it ear-blasts you and opens its jaw, then teleports on top of you and kills you.

Fun fact: The God mod's "seraphim" is actually an ophan. The "ring of eyes" design of biblically accurate angels comes the ophanim, the word literally translating to something like "wheel." A seraph is more of an eye with wings, or a multitude of eyes with wings, but not with the wheels.

37:26 "Is this god or is this sanity?" -Joan of Arc, circa 1425

I'm sure it says it on the mod page. But the sanity mod is actually based on Don't Starve, where in that game if your sanity lowers, Shadow Creatures will also attack you.

It feels like you could recreate a lot of these horror mods by putting a command block with /kill @e[type=player] in a pen with a pig in it with a pressure plate on top, so that every so often you randomly get instantly killed.

The "God is coming" bit is mostly taken from the indie horror game "Squirrel Stapler". Doesn't really take away from the mod and its cool to see it in Minecraft but you didn't mention it so you should check the game out if you haven't before. Great content btw.

as much as i adore horror mods, its very telling that the two best mods, the sanity mod and god is coming, are just mechanics from Don't Starve and Squirrel Stapler

I think you’d love Voices of the Void. it’s such a fun game that has a slow burn to it. The atmosphere is beautiful and when it DOES scare you, it feels well earned.

the villager voice is so goofy I thought it was Daiazal doing a voice all the way until they started talking over eachother

Love the contrast between the Gremlin energy of Gameplay Daiazal and the professional demeanor of essay Daiazal.

16:40 the goatman is actually really complex when you play alone but with other mods messing with the world (Time, Day number, mobs in the world) he kinda gets a little confused and basically backs off. But alone, he'll do things like spawn a bunch of goats and will get more aggressive with every kill, and will also stalk you until you disregard him and he runs at you while your guard is down or your focusing on something else.

I feel like ripping a sequence straight out of squirrel stapler takes a lot of the punch out of the god mod. The reason it works here is because the original sequence were so good to begin with. It’s effective, but not because of the mod itself.
