My mother used to work for USPS. They'd leave her alone for almost 12 hours a day, bounce her between offices, have her do the jobs of her boss, coworkers, etc. and often force her to take the almost two hour drive back to work after she'd almost gotten home because they'd "forgotten" things. I remember going on late night drives with her delivering packages her coworkers "forgot about" or "missed" on late December nights. She ended up having a heart attack in the parking lot of her main office on my brother's birthday. She hasn't really been the same tbh

Wow it's almost like theres a correlation of unaddressed mental issues with veterans, and a government job that hires veterans...

I wouldn’t be surprised if we start seeing people “going Amazon” soon…

Used to be a USPS employee, in the summer, it’s an awful and nearly deadly job. Most metal trucks still don’t have air conditioning, you’re walking in 90° heat for hours but “the mail doesn’t stop” so you’re not done until you’ve finished the mail

the phrase "going postal" is still around but the more infamous incidents were so long ago that i think many people don't associate the phrase with the post office at all

Among the MANY inappropriate jokes my Dad told me before the age of 10, one was about the post office. Something about how to do you know they’re hiring? The flags are at half mast.

My supervisor's wife is a lifelong mail carrier. She says nothing has changed about USPS management. They still promote tbe most vindictive and lazy people to manager positions, and still rely on coercion, bullying, spying, and drama-stirring to "motivate/discipline" employees.

She's so cool that it doesn't faze her. But her warning was adamant: "don't work for USPS if you can't handle bad bosses."

A reoccurring theme is the employee was singled out and harassed by supervisors and coworkers. This is kinda what happens when you harass the wrong one.

To fear physical violence from a supervisor??? That’s beyond unacceptable. Had no idea the USPS was like that.

The royal oak situation was so sad. My dad worked there. He too was mistreated by the people the guy ended. They had bullied him so badly he just lost it. Took his job and life away. There’s a book from a union rep called “the tainted eagle”. It’s incredible. The book matches things my dad said growing up very clearly. This video doesn’t touch on the treatment that was in place at the time.  Too many managers, bullying, damaging of workers trucks, stalking on routes. Etc. The job was very high paying at the time. So people were essentially “wage locked”.

Wow I wonder why one of the most gruelling, never-ending and unforgiving jobs pushes people over the edge

The Postal game franchise makes a lot of sense now… 😅

I work at FedEx and like… I never considered “going postal” real before working in the industry. The people delivering your packages, regardless of what company, are not happy with their job. It’s back breaking and never ends. There’s really no solution because need will only continue to increase.

Clicking this while on my postal route so everyone knows im barely hanging on

The characterization of postal workers as potentially violent is highly insensitive to the fact that a postal worker is far, far more likely to become the victim of workplace violence than to be the perpetrator.

I thought the reason why this happened with post office workers going postal was because we never signed their petitions.

I worked for the USPS for 15 years and my mother worked at the same facility for 35 years. Between the supervisors and coworkers, there are so many different things that cause you stress and anxiety. There were quite a few coworkers that I knew were going to snap. One supervisor had to be escorted to her car at the end of every shift because she would intentionally harass people and laugh about it. I’m so glad that I used that time to go to school and earn my degree. That place still gives me PTSD

BECAUSE THE MAIL NEVER STOPS!!

i worked at Fedex for around seven months, and i have to tell you that i never understood how bad it was until i did. i couldn’t even stay, the expectations were impossible, there is NO air conditioning and it’s 95+ degrees outside so that means it’s HOTTER inside the warehouse, the trucks are inside too, the lines are running constantly, there’s 300 people all inside this place and everything is at once. they don’t care about you, and they don’t care about your mail either. stop ordering online, go the fuck outside and go to the grocery store. this industry is killing people, people have died at my warehouse, people die in Amazon buildings more then any other job in more recent years- and get this. a lot of these facilities bar workers from calling ambulances. you don’t even have enough time to drink some water. the boxes never stop coming.

Hard to imagine a time where 14 was the second worst mass shooting in US history.

Today that wouldn’t even stay in the news for a week
