2025. Still unapologetically carrying the.40

Follow up shots were very important to the feds when they encountered people who owned more than one dog.

When everyone was spending $40 on a box of 9mm during the pandemic, I was getting .40S&W for $13.

Summary: 9mm will kill someone. .40cal will kill someone just a little bit better.

I was involved in a self-defense scenario roughly 11 years ago. Glock 22 .40 SW golden saber round. It achieved a one-shot stop. I know first hand that .40 is an extremely effective round.

The best thing about the .40 is that the guns all come with "30% off" labels.

Thank you for mentioning Paul Harrell. What an incredible man. I miss him greatly.

The reason I stick to .40 S&W because the great state of California only allows 10-round magazines. Therefore, I would rather have .40 S&W, which is a slight powerful stopping around than 9mm.

"John, what's your background?"

"I hate my life."

I am a retired Deputy Sheriff. My first issued weapon was a Colt Police Positive 38 special. I have been through the transitions to 9mm, 45acp, 40cal,  then back to 9mm. I carried the 40cal longer than any other caliber and unlike most cops, I ran drills every weekend with a co-worker without fail. That being said, I have developed an attachment to my old Glock 23 that is hard for me to break. I can shoot that gun faster and more accurately than any other pistol I own. That skill however falls entirely on the amount of practice I have had with that particular weapon. Training and practice is critical no matter the caliber.

Great video and congrats on the camera. That is a substantial investment and should add to the quality of your videos!

8:00 glad to see Paul is still getting referenced. A wise man who taught many

Been in LE for 34yrs. We’ve been carrying the.40 for about the past 12yrs. (Sig 229 & HK VP40). No real life experiences to speak of with shootings. But I love the .40. I own all calibers, but I feel you just can’t deny the physics of the .40s speed and larger diameter. I never found the recoil to be significant enough to discount using a 40. Just my 2 cents.

28 years in law enforcement and I love my 40 cal.

"Those weak federal wrists" 😂😂😂 I was thinking it, you said it. Belly laughing. 😂

Paul Harrell. He was what you would call an expert.

When I was a police officer in Charlotte, we transitioned from revolvers to semi auto handguns. First was the S&W 4046, eventually moving to the M&P.40, which I was gifted when I retired. There were plenty of OIS's with the .40 and all handled the threat without any issues. I still enjoy shooting my .40 and even bought a KelTec S2K 2nd gen (I have no shame) which accepts this pistol's same magazines. I am quite confident in my abilities to use either one of these weapons if the SHTF. Yes, as we speak, the .40 ammo is a little higher per round than 9mm and capacity is usually 1-2 rounds less. I have a few 9mm pistols and enjoy them as well. The bottom line FOR ME is you're going to need to practice with what you have to be confident and proficient. Not to sound like a broken record but that goes for any weapon. BTW the Charlotte PD switched to Glock 9mm's a few years ago. Because of my kinship with my issued S&W M&P.40 it remains on a battle belt, in my safe, ready when needed.

I'm pretty sure Clint Smith says "they're all pistol rounds and they all suck" or something to the effect of that

It always kills me when I hear someone mentions "modern" or new bullet construction for the 9MM as if everybody that shoots a .40 is using rounds that were made in 1870.

I got nothing but love for the 40.

As a Firearm Instructor, I've had a .40 S&W for 25 years. Although your points are valid, in the opposite view, I don't see a significant reason to downgrade to a 9mm just because of 2 rounds, or a slight bit more control. I actually have the Glock 23 Gen 2. It's a really reliable handgun, and I also have a G27 Gen 4. Both shoot great. You mention follow up shots. How many do you really need ? As a civilian I'm just trying to defend myself, not go to war with a few people. Besides, when it comes to 1 shot stops, the .40 has a better chance of ending it.
