This unsolved murder was featured on Crimewatch UK along with an excellent reenactment of the events of that night. So many little things went wrong that created a tragic outcome, so many 'if only' moments.

In 1994, construction began on the Batheaston/Swainswick bypass near Bath. The bypass was eventually completed and opened to traffic in May 1996. Melanie’s body was dumped in an area next to a nearby motorway. Had the killer/s worked on the bypass construction.

She was my age and I have followed the story for years. And then came the horrible motorway discovery - he must have thought he had got away with it all forever.

Such a tragic, haunting case.
I personally don't think it was the Batman rap, I also don't think she knew him. I think she was targeted whilst in the club, and lured to a car. I used to live near Bath, it sent fear through the city and surrounding areas.
Thank you for covering this case 🙏 We can only hope DNA will bring the perp to justice.

So sad indeed 😢 to lose a child must be so devastating, but to lose a child by the hands of a murderer is even worse, and at the same time to never know who the perpetrator was is just so terrible and devastating for her poor family. R. I. P Melanie and we hope they eventually find the perpetrator, so that her family can get closure. 🙏🙏

In 1996 I was on holiday in Mallorca with a friend and we met and befriended a woman and her (female) partner. The woman said she managed a nightclub in Bath called 'Cadillacs'. I had never heard of it before, and hadn't heard the name since until watching this video.

Melanie Road also from Bath went missing on the 9th June 1984 , exactly 12 years earlier to the day as Melanie Hall. Her killer was found years later due to DNA . Both had just left a nightclub.

What sort of crazed, twisted and sick individual would do this it beggars belief he hasn't been caught. Bring back hanging and they may think twice about doing these sort of horrific crimes once they're caught. I hope the family has some closure for this case and someone gets arrested. These murderers do not have a conscience which is truly chilling as they could do it again. RIP Melanie you did not deserve what happened to you. Thanks for the video I'm hooked now looking forward to the next one 👍

I often wonder how the police are able arrest these "suspects" in cases like these who clearly have nothing to do with the case. It's also happened in the andrew gosden case, and the girl from york, claudia. I always wonder how the police can make an arrest like that, and wonder just what evidence they thought they had? It's very strange.

Given she would have been aware of the rapes in the area, its unlikely she would have gone off with a stranger. Nothing suggests she was drunk and therefore less concious of risk. So it leaves me thinking whomever killed her was disarmingly charasmatic, or she knew them on some level.

What was she waiting on the edge of the dance floor for? It would have been more reasonable to search for her friends, call her boyfriend or parents to meet her. Leaves me thinking she knew someone else and felt safe to travel onwarda with them rather than leave the club alone.

So sad, because she seems a very inteligent woman, who wouldnt have taken risks, but some monster fooled her.
