Despite the building looking rather dilapidated, the central ground with seating benches and the surrounding areas give you a vibe of peace and calmness .

Можно было менять квартиры между владельцами с доплатой или без доплаты. Например квартиру с 2 комнатами на квартиру с 3 комнатами в другом районе, или даже городе.
Это было свободно и ничем и никогда не ограничивалось. Так что люди могли всегда улучшать свои жиличные условия.

Professor Russell!! This was a very interesting history lesson. The interviews were quite good as well. The fountain and the benches were so well planned just as the new micro communities you have toured, albeit they are not free.

Not all “Khrushchevkas” in the USSR were built from concrete panels. For example, in Baku (the capital of Azerbaijan) in the early to mid-1960s, five-story buildings were constructed from limestone blocks the size of eight bricks. There were a huge number of stone quarries near Baku, where these blocks were produced right on site. I was born and raised in buildings like these. The thermal and sound insulation were simply amazing - nothing like the “Khrushchevkas” built from concrete panels...

WOW I love the video you provided here. It’s one of your most history rich one yet! So much history you provided. Imagine having a free apartment today? That would be something. They built 64,000 of them is great. i’m sure someone will give you a tour as they discover you and your good nature. Not sure if they have a historical society but you are right that fountain should be cleaned up and a plaque placed. Especially if they replace the buildings hopefully can keep the park area.

Even in Romania there are apartment blocks where people must go up four of five flight of stairs because there're no elevators.

khrushchevkas are the heart of so many childhoods and memories. In just 2025 alone there were over a quarter million people rehoused under the 2017 renovation program too

that building is SIXTY SEVEN YO!!!!!!!!!! in the US we tear down and rebuild a place someone on a fixed income cannot afford. they have to be evicted from the old place and cant afford to live anywhere after that. shameful.
