"Your money is now my money, enjoy college debt!" I broke at his part!

I feel like it's important to note that Twilight is in denial for most of the episode. Because she is in a position of power she feels as if she should be above things like jealousy.

It certainly doesn't help that she's the "Princess of Friendship", a title that implies that she knows just about everything there is about friendship and that she is the go-to pony for advice on that subject.

Because of that, there's a feeling of almost betraying her title when she notices herself getting jealous. Mentors are supposed to have already gone through and dealt with problems like that. She feels as if she should be over this.

That leads to the main moral of the episode: It's ok to be jealous, even if you feel as if you should be above it.

But there's also a secondary message to this episode, and that's that you sometimes you miss out on things in life, and that's ok too.

When Twilight dedicates those three days to herself, she wasn't thinking about what she might be missing, and so when she finds that time did indeed keep moving and that she missed some things during those days it gets to her. She wishes she had been apart of it, and maybe even regrets her choices.

She's never going to find out what happened during those three days, and neither will the audience. But that doesn't mean you should get stuck up on what you missed. Twilight gets jealous during the episode because all she's focusing on is the moments she missed and didn't get the chance to be apart of, but what both her and the audience should be focusing on is the events that come after.

She can still spend time with her friends now that those three days are over, and while she can't go back and time to find out what those old jokes were, she can certainly make new ones.

Overall, I feel like what the episode is trying to say is that it's ok to feel jealous about missing out on certain events, but that you shouldn't let those feelings get to you and instead focus on making new memories in the present. Your friend's lives still move on when you're not there, but that doesn't mean that your no longer friends. It just means that there are some things you won't be there for, and that's ok. Because there are plenty of things you will be there for.

Feel like there was a conversation at Hasbro that sounded something like this...
"So, how do we get the rest of the Mane 6 to be friendly with Discord?"
[Crickets chirp]
"Meh, we'll just off-screen it."

SISTER, I AM THE PROBLEM!

I'm stealing that

I'm not proud of Twilight's choices and portrayal in this episode but I don't blame her for not trusting Discord and for believing him to be nothing but a problem. This is the same guy who wrecks her home, messes with her friendships, and endangers and toys with her life and feelings with glee and no regret. He's never done anything to be friends with her even now. I hate him for it all and he will never be someone I like. In my eyes, he treats Twilight as a torment toy that he can easily take advantage of and that just generates more hate from me. This episode proves that.

"Throw the switch"  ...I got that reference.  Why oh WHY did I get that reference...

This episode also negatively reflects on both the remane 5 and discord. Remane 5 because they didnt notice Twilight was becoming neurotic and obsessed, acted almost condescending towards her, and ignored her concerns UNTIL THE VERY END. Discord because the episode can be taken as him tormenting Twilight on purpose, almost reverting his character development

Discord? Of course KP is here.

Glad to see you back with the more extensive reviews Silver :)

And the hippogriff doctor said let there be friendship.........and there was friendship..........a looooooooooot of it. >w< <3
Thanks for letting me cameo Silver! Always a pleasure! :D HUGS! <3

7:10 She WASN'T jealous. she was neglected. Not my idea, but is certainly seems right. She didn't want to get her friends away from Discord, she wanted to join in. Yet, in the episode, Discord wanted to "teach" her about jealousy. A lesson, ultimatly not needed, and presented at the wrong angle.
14:12 Except she was RIGHT in her suspicions... She wondered why Cadance didn't act like Cadance she knew anymore. Or did you forget how she tried to reconnect with "Cadance" then? She tried the Sunshine verse, she tried just being nice. Hell, when she though she was proven wrong, she apologised to "Cadance", only to be banished to the mines.
14:55 Justified?
Applejack: Wait a minute. You didn't suggest not inviting Twilight because you wanted to make her feel left out, did you?
Discord: Of course not. That whole jealousy thing was just a happy accident.

Discord's face screams of lies. Also, "HAPPY" accident. Riight.
15:20 Left out. Not the same as jealousy. "Admit that that's what you're feeling". Ugh...
Twilight would not go the way of Princess Luna.
1)Luna was corrupted by Miasma.2)Twilight, while enjoying helping others - is not that high strung on recognition.
17:40 Discrod MADE her miss out on everything. Sure, first times might have been her own doing, but later she tries to connect with her friends, but, Discord, being what he is(disguisting troll), makes sure Twilight fails in those attempts.
18:30 He got a taste of his own medicine, only to be forgiven way too quickly.

20:51 Luna: Haza! Even in a review about Discord, We, the princess of the night, shall remain dominant on this channel! We are princess Luna, thanks for watching everypony!

16:34 That custom animation of Luna's jealousy growing to the point where she gains the eyes of Nightmare Moon actually gave me chills.

This episode rubbed me the wrong way since something similar happened to me, except my friends didn't rub it in my face and tried to explain it.  Feeling left out sucks and making someone feel that way on purpose is just mean to me.

I have to be honest, What About Discord is one of my least favourite episodes in the entire series. I hated having to watch the pain that Twilight went through for missing out.

"Your money is now my money.  Enjoy college debt!"  Isn't that the motto of American colleges everywhere.

That Antony cameo was brilliant :D

I give credit to silver quill; this was good.

the gold rule is "If it didn't happen onscreen it never happened"

You might be misreading twilught. she doesnt see herseld not having flaw, she refuses to accept she has flaws necause a princess is not allowed to have flaws.
