14:21 "They never quite come together like you hope"

really had to rub it in there, huh?

You didn't even read the lyrics, let alone see the movie (I assume) and you got the entire idea thanks to the song's musicality. Great analysis/reaction as always 👏

You got the entire point of the movie, loneliness and the feeling knowing that they just never come together. Super Impressive👏

"They never quite come together as you'd hope." 😭😭😭😭😭

In an interview about the song's creation, Kenshi Yonezu told Hikaru Utada he wanted this duet to feature a girl grapples with complex emotions and a guy who doesn't get it at all, and to perform it with that feeling. I think that's also why their vocal tones create such a strong contrast.

its crazy how you were able to interpret the MOVIE through the song. that shows how well this song really fits.

Try listening next to "Iris out"

It’s weird but this song makes me think that you need someone to feel loneliness. If you’re alone all the time, you never know what it is.

It's precisely as you said at 13:10, 'Interesting the roles that the voices play together. It's like they're brushing up against each other but never fully embrace. Like a cat rubbing against your leg, but you never pick up the cat and snuggle it.' And this is also the relationship of the main characters Reze and Denji in that Chainsaw Man movie that the voices of Kenshi Yuonezu und Hikaru Utada stand in for.

Hikaru Utada is one of the best selling Japanese singers of all time, and was a massive artist in the late 90s and early 2000s. Kenshi Yonezu has the most viewed Japanese language music video on YouTube and many of the biggest Japanese songs since the mid 2010s. In many ways, this is a connection between two eras of music.

"they are brushing up against each other but never truly  embrace " PERFECTLY described the characters' relationship.

I've probably listened to this song over 100s of times now. Doesn't get old

I love how you geek out about Yonezu's singing and stay in the same section for several minutes, even on internet that kind of raw energy and excitement is rare.
And to 'get' the intention of the song without any lyrics or background of the song, you're the real deal

YES. You got it. this can't be a duet. Because in the movie the 2 characters the song represents are doomed to never be with each other. Their paths can never fully connect.

YO Chris! Have you any idea how long I've been waiting for you to react to a Kenshi Yonezu song, as in ANY of his songs? Seeing this video got me hype

Also a lil fun fact: Mr.Yonezu over here, writes, composes, and makes the cover arts of his songs all by himself. I was told that his popularity popped off when he released Lemon (which I really recommend you to listen to).

P.S please listen to some of his other songs

Bro literally got the plot of the movie form just the song

Don’t know if Kenshi Yonezu and Hikaru Utada or Chris Liep and Chainsaw Man is a better collab

13:19 100%, in both the story and song 😭

Also for those who know. “The truth is…… I’ve never been to school either”
