The fact that Ado can sing Vocaloid songs—which weren't even meant for human voices in the first place—live and with her actual voice is precisely what makes her Ado.

When she doesn't move, you know it's a big deal.

Listen closely to how Ado breathes in this song—she literally has the lung capacity of a 100-meter freestyle swimmer.

This is imo the most technically impressive performance that she has done to date. People underestimate how much range is needed to perform this. This is not the only cover of this song out there but she is to my knowledge the only person to cover it live and in both the original key and tempo. Goes to show that she is the master of controlled chaos because when control is needed she has it in abundance.

a. it’s a song about a musician pleading for connection with audiences.
b. she did it only once. live. without prior notice.
c. i’ve listened to it hundreds of times and it still makes me weep.
d. i don’t even understand japanese 😂

Btw it's her 19th song in her live show after preforming Tot musica. (check it out if you haven't already)
WorldAdomination!!!!!!!!

Ado usually moves / dances a lot when singing, this is the first time I've seen her just standing concentrating on singing.

With Vocaloid you are not bound by limitations of the human voice. When humans try covering those songs in their full complexity, they either fail .. or they are Ado.

Something to consider too is that a song originally composed for a Vocaloid is not necessarily going to be mindful of the average human singer’s limits. Growing up on Vocaloid means Ado has had years of experience singing songs with unusually wide ranges and speeds.

It’s probably also why you suspected she has a drummer background actually—Japanese is a syllabic language so when working with a program like Vocaloid it can be sometimes easier and even preferred to lean into that rhythmic pattern (this was especially the case in the early days when the software was newer and more primitive).

Nowadays purposely tuning them to sound more human is more common, though! If you check out other Vocaloid covers of hers I highly recommend listening to a sample of the original, because it’s super interesting to see how a human interprets the music.

Also, there are some rarer cases in which the producer also is a vocalist, and you get to compare not only the original Vocaloid version and covers, but also the creator’s interpretation. Wowaka was one such creator, and if you have the time I’d definitely give his version (and/or the version his band did on the first take in his honor) a listen 😌 they’re raw and emotional in different ways

Fun fact: As you probably know this song was produced for Hatsune Miku by Wowaka. Wowaka sang the song with his band Hitorie and added his own touches like at one point of the song he covering both ears with his hands, after his passing when Miku sings this song on concerts thet changed her animation to now play the guutar like wowaka in his performance and also made her do the gesture of covering both her ears. During Magical Mirai 2019 which the year Wowaka safly passed away they made a tribute by playing snippets of his iconic songs before miku appeared and sang one of the most famous and iconic of his songs "Rolling Girl"

It's still crazy to me that she's not even 25 yet, so her voice is still developing and changing and she already has this level of range and control.

In other words, this isn't even her final form.

Wake up, More Ado Reaction!!!

I CRIED on my reaction 😅
It's actually way more emotional than it seem to be, this song and her performance.
If you haven't realised, Ado herself is pretty emotional during the performance.

Ado is a machine; she can simply do everything one would ask of a Vocaloid. She pulls off any superhuman feat that only a Vocaloid could manage.

The black heart is in tribute to the person you mentioned at the beginning that passed away, as they died from a heart condition.

Ado is Monster vocal

I’d really love for you to watch Ado’s “Jama” live performance. It’s just as intensely wild and completely unhinged as “Tot Musica,” which you’ve watched before. I think you might really enjoy its dark and almost sinister energy, so please give it a watch someday! I have a feeling it’ll be right up your alley.
