This is an updated version of the video I made a few months ago, featuring better AI upscaling models, restored freeze frame tags and music cues that aren't in the original cutscene files, and better contrast (Which was originally washed out when I converted the THP files into MP4s the first time).

even with almost zero words its amazing how much personality they were able to give these characters

@jacqstrappe 1 year ago

my personal headcanon is that sonic didn’t get the invitation until really late because he’s canonically homeless

I like the idea of the villains of their games actually BEING villains in the story mode, it’s so far ahead of World of Light it’s so unfair that we didn’t get something like Subspace again

I didn't realize until now how much Sakurai was gassing up his own characters in Subspace lmao. Kirby gets the kill against the giant laser, Dedede humbles Bowser, Meta Knight constantly aura farming.

Fun fact: If you play as Kirby against Mario in the first fight AND damage Peach’s cage more, Mario is the fighter who has been turned into a trophy the most with a total of 5 times

39:06 Meta knight casually jumps past the Ice Climbers

Ice Climbers: And we took that personally.

This whole story mode in brawl; the subspace emissary is one of the greatest things in video game history.

41:07 Lucario casually lifting the box up to reveal Snake. Probably the funniest moment in the game. 😂

Told a more captivating story than most superhero movies without a word of dialogue

I feel bad for R.O.B. because he was probably forced to kill all his friends by making them explode the bombs

53:49 i love how deddede hugs kirby as fast as he can its so adorable

@MasterFreeze000 1 year ago

49:50 we all know that the Smash roster felt like a family in this game, and will probably never feel that way again

I'm here for the true hero of subspace emissary: King Dedede

It still bothers me how everyone had their name display except Mr. Game & Watch.

53:00 So anyone gonna talk about how dededisrespectully cool Dedede was?
Bowser literally screaming at his face and bro went "shut👌".

Marths intro as a lone hero against an army and then his team up with meta knight after they both realize the other isn't the enemy, it's just so good.

48:50 this cutscene goes hard, feel free to record

23:02 The way Mario and Link run with such force and anger is genuinely frightening.

55:00 its like they forgot that they needed to throw Sonic in somewhere, and were just like "CRAP! UH HERES GOOD!"

Sakurai’s choice to avoid another story mode because of a few leaked cutscenes felt… outdated. Like he was holding onto an old-school idea of surprise over substance, when what fans really wanted was something meaningful and replayable, like Subspace was.
