I was dismissed, neglected and abandoned by both parents and step parents. I do not have narcissism but my ultra sensitivity led me to see them as troubled people who probably should not have been parents. But Ive been a nurse for 40 years and my special sensitivity makes me a great nurse and mother. Gen X here. We learned early that our true families were not under the same roof, and that if you don't stand for something you will fall for anything.

Narcissists believe they have the right to punish you. If they say that they’re sorry, but their actions don’t show it, believe the actions. Giving them the benefit of the doubt will keep you stuck questioning yourself, which is where they want you to be.

I was a tiny little girl when my narc father began abusing me. I take great offense to being dismissed or told it was somehow my own issues that made me a target of my father’s abuse. I was a little child. There was nothing I could have done to change my dad’s behavior.

The number of times I heard "that wasn't my intention" after so many passive aggressive jabs.... And then a circular conversation would follow with me trying to explain that the words/ actions hurt and them saying that they would apologise not because that's what they meant but because my feelings were hurt and then question my perception saying they long for the day I wasn't so cynical.... It was a total mind fuck

Was married to one for 20 years together 25 years. 3 Kids. He left me for a woman he had an affair with at his work . Broke me financially and loss of special friends also did not have a job. Had to find a job again after not working for a while and bringing up kids and my age. While he just moved on. Has taken me alot of therapy and my Christianity to work through it. Do not know how people can do it without God. Could only break with him completely once my daughter finished Matric 2 years ago. Then he couldnt manipulate me anymore. But because we were together so long and had memories ,sometimes the wound opens again. Then have to work on myself again. Ongoing healing and prayer. And listening to videos like this really helps.Thankyou.🤗

I sought out help from 3 therapists. The first one said I was paranoid. The second therapist didn’t want me to talk about the narcissistic abuse at all and the 3rd therapist didn’t either. The last 15+ years of my life has been difficult bc there’s been nobody that I can talk to. I had to sell my house to get away from him and all his flying monkeys. I’ve been no contact for a little over 2 years. I’m still healing from this nightmare.

Went through several therapist before and during marriage. 1 in particular was so impressed with x. Final marriage counselor fired x and told me that I was married to a narcissist and to know I was the strong one, he was a coward and I need to run. Took me 2 more years to leave. So grateful that I did.
