I saw 'Induction' on the thumbnail and thought you were cured of your attachment to cooking your food via the combustion of hydrocarbons.

6:17 Why I cook my brain instead of my food.

“Here’s why I zap my brain, not my microwave”

Honestly appreciate the openness about your mental health struggles. Something a lot of us should try to do more.

Adam I just want to say that I started watching you when I was 16 and I'm 21 now. And although I didn't know it then, you turned out to be a pretty big influence in my life. Growing up in a more traditional (and close minded) household you helped me be open to different perspectives and experiences. I started watching you for the food content but now I'd say my favourite videos of yours are the ones where you talk about what interests you. You've changed my way of thinking to one that is more analytical and kinder. Thanks for being a great male role model for a teenage boy who couldn't really get that from his immediate family.

You're cured? Cured and salted? like a chorizo

As a neuroscientist who works in TMS research, this is very cool to see! Just a heads-up to people looking into this, the only things TMS is currently approved for are depression, OCD and smoking cessation. Other use cases are investigational. The private clinics promising to treat autism, for example, are just looking to make money. Autism and TMS is absolutely an active and very promising area of investigation, but we're not there yet.

Thanks Adam.

I stuck my head in a Kenmore microwave and set it to potato and now I'm cured too.

Love how his video titles used to be like “why I make my steak this way not that way “ but the longer he’s on YouTube the more cryptic he gets

Thanks for giving mental health the same emphasis you do physical health, something a lot fail to do. Good on you and happy for you

heya adam! i have obsessive compulsive disorder and experienced similar relief when my exposure therapy started working. my one word of wisdom to you is: don’t get discouraged if you relapse or regress from where you are. you’re riding a high right now and it may not last forever. that doesn’t mean the treatment didn’t work or that you’re broken. exposure therapy saved my life, but i still have bad days sometimes. it may be the same case for you and that’s okay, frustrating as it may be

TMS effectively saved my wife's life. She was in really bad shape some years ago: severe anxiety which led to depression on top of that and eventually s. ideation. Medications would work for a bit then stop and they had weird side effects. She was tired of it all and ready to be done. Eventually she got selected for a TMS trial (actually her doctor made the study take her too) and just as Adam described, at first it seemed like nothing was happening. She wanted to drop out after a few weeks but she stuck with it. By the time she was done she was much, much better. Today, you wouldn't ever know she went through all that. She's a totally different person. No medications, no re-treatments, occasional check-ins with a therapist and she's a completely healthy, functional person again.

I did TMS a few years back, I noticed the exact same thing where lost my cravings for drugs and junk food, and if anyone tries TMS for their depression and they don't see significant long term improvement, don't lost hope, it took years of changing through treatments and prescriptions one after another with only slight improvements, until one day my psychiatrist had me try another seemingly useless prescription and it greatly changed everything in my life. There is hope.

Adam I’ve been watching since late 2019 ur like my uncle

Hey Adam! Thanks for talking about your TMS experience.

I am a huge advocate for TMS. While it didn't cure me, it did change my life. It showed me the hole that I was in and that I was digging. It gave me motivation to try and get out of the situation I was in.
Gave me the will to make those phone calls to get more help.
Spravato ended up being what got me to the point of feeling like a good human but TMS showed me there was room to grow and that I was capable and deserving of it.

My Mother sufferred with depression all her adult life, and she was sectioned to the mental hospital a few times. She tried ECT a few years ago and it "fixed" her brain in like 2 sessions - it was unbelievable but true.

Adam, thank you so much for you sharing your lived experience so openly! I particularly love the language you use that calls attention to the fact that the brain is an organ that can malfunction or get diseased just like a liver, a kidney, or skin. Normalize this!

I'd say that no matter if your remission is due to TMS or Placebo, the result is there and that's a very objective success

glad you're feeling better Adam, regardless of what got you there

I'm coming out of depression after 2, 3 years.  I really like the way you frame it.  "I know that I know that I know" is the learning that comes with self-realization on the way out of depression.  Depression is one of those things that boils you so slowly you might not even realize when it started.  Your waffle iron is the perfect analogy.

The feeling is wonderful when you come back to being yourself.  Like the reverse, you might not notice when you start getting better either, until it's happened.

Can't underestimate the importance of the meds - they didn't fix anything but they gave me safety and time, to find my way out.

Magnets, how do they work? Lol. Gardening & landscaping is what helped me.  Glad you found something.
