“English isn’t my first language” Just know her fanfics were HEATTTTT 🔥 5:53

"this proves he's hetero" about not knowing fanfiction terms SENT ME 😂😂😂😂

Native American here. So Powwows are more than just dances.

It's an entire event with singing, dancing, drumming, handmade crafts and sharing stories. It's a way to pass down traditions to the younger generation.

There are dancing competitions and intertribal dances where anyone can participate. Depending on the dance it could have deep spiritual meaning (hard to say without knowing the tribe/dance)

TLDR: Powwows are Events. Dancing is very connected to our heritage. Asking about "casino money" is weird but normally I could chalk that up more to ignorance (not in this case). Either way that dude has way more patience then I ever could be. Never stay with a RACIST.

That first boyfriend lmao.

Unironically, one of the best bits of relationship advise ever, is to never be in a relationship with someone you have to hide your stuffed animals from.

Sir, there’s no kid that young who is going to be okay with leaving their MOM 😂 especially if that’s the only parent they’ve got

the cat [spoilers] turning up being alive in the end of the prank story is like that one mini dachshund that got lost on an australian island which was mostly wilderness and somehow managed to survive for almost 2 gd years out there before finally being brought back home lol

@the single mom story - my mom was a single mom and we didn’t have a lot (but I absolutely was never neglected)and if she told me someone wanted to  take me away for her they could offer me the world and I wouldn’t go. It may be partly /because/ she’s a single mom. There’s absolutely no confusion who takes care of him and loves him.

If I had a partner who was a writer who wrote sex scenes, I'd be reading them for ideas 😂

That writers boyfriend is soooo insecure

No kid wants to lose their parents. If you tell a kid someone wants to take them away from their parents they will do anything to stop that from happening. I think Sarby just felt really safe as a kid lol and isn’t giving himself enough credit. Most kids would throw a fit at an abstract, “no bestie cause they’re not safe,” but if you say, “they want to take you,” if that kid is happy at home, and most times even if they aren’t happy at home, they’ll avoid that friend like the plague.

8 year olds are smarter than you think.

i actually have a pretty relevant (albeit traumatic) anecdote for story 2: at around 7 years old i was emotionally aware enough to know something wasn’t right when my bio father took my brothers and i from my mom. he was only supposed to have us for thanksgiving break, but when monday rolled around, i knew something wasn’t right. i cried for my mom everyday until his family started pitying me and convinced him to let us at least talk to our mom and choose which parent we wanted to stay with. i was worried that i would never see my mom, stepdad and other sisters again. legally speaking: we weren’t kidnapped but try telling that to a kid who is used to being home majority of the time. kids know way more than they let on.

first story astonishes me because me and my boyfriend met because of our shared love of gay saw (2004) fanfiction

The last story was bittersweet. He only got any justice because she finally got a huge team of legal support, but 2-4 years is way too short for what he did to her and possibly others. A win is a win though I guess

In relation to the first story, the best advice I’ve heard for this, ever, is from an Oz Media video. It’s several episodes old on the Vaults channel, but it goes “don’t date someone you have to hide your stuffed animals from” and it goes every which way, and it’s universal. Every time it’s applicable he mentions it, and it’s such a great piece of advice everyone needs.

The thing about an "attractive nuisance" is that it includes availability and accessibility. If a kid gets into your backyard and drowns in your pool, you would be considered responsible because the kid should never have been able to get at the pool in the first place. But if you properly locked your gate and the kid had to break in, then you likely would not be found liable because they had to exert undue effort to reach it.

Story #2 sounds like a horror movie. That's actually terrifying. For some reason it feels/sounds so entitled that those other parents EXPECTED to adopt OP's kid. Just because they have more money than OP.

37:07 lefse, it’s a Scandinavian dessert. Actually goes hard ngl, it’s kinda like a tortilla but potato based, and then you add butter and sugar to it and roll it up.

But using lefse as a catch all term for any fried bread is diabolical work. I looked up fry bread and it’s not even close. Lefse is super thin, and not at all crunchy or fried texture. Literally just like a cold tortilla with butter and sugar lol

The 8-year old story: The parents are treating OP's kid as a commodity they can casually purchase from OP to keep their child entertained. I find it hard to believe they would pull this if OP wasn’t a working single parent who can  only afford the necessities for her child. There’s stories floating around of rich folks and/or adoption agencies they pay big bucks to who try to pressure working class parents, especially young single moms to give up their children, because the child fits the mold of what they want their dream child to be.(This isn’t the case of every adoption story, don't get me wrong. It’s not adoption that's the problem, It’s the people who use it for the wrong reasons) It's not uncommon for them to establish a personal connection with the parent to manipulate them into surrendering their children over because it's a lot less background checks and documentation to get past if social workers sense their intentions for the kid aren't entirely altruistic. These people don't think the would-be adoptee has feelings about being taken from their mother, who loves and cares about them. They think they're a living doll. The audacity  to casually ask a mother to surrender her child so they can be your child's living doll is a level of out-of-touch I cannot fathom. It makes me think that even if OP's mother gave him over, the kid would end up living as a servant to theirs they would punish in ways they wouldn't with their own if OP's son doesn’t behave like the 100% perfect child to them.

My cat is in love with Beans

33:27 Native American person here just dropping in my two cents, speaking from personal experience (myself and family) some of us don't generally care about the term Native American vs Indian, personally when it's someone I don't know I say Native American to avoid confusion with people from India, but when it's someone I know I just shrug and say to just call me whichever, my family tends to have the same attitude and it sounds like the OP is in the same boat. As a rule of thumb if you want to be respectful to someone you're just meeting Native Americans is your safest bet and if they say it's fine to use Indian then you have your go ahead. Basically it's in the same boat as Black/African American/Person of Color where some people are comfortable with different things, and similarly, there's far worse things you  could call us in both cases.
