Munchausen by proxy is now diagnosed as "Factitious Disorder imposed on another" - a fabricated or induced illness on someone else, usually by a carer. And yes, it is medical child abuse, and people die from this. ☹ The poor child developing an ED to cope with this abuse is tragic; she's severely underweight, which can cause her permanent damage beyond whatever health issues she already has. I really hope she's doing okay now and is thriving.

Ethnicity and skin color are WILD. My oldest daughter, who's half Bengali, came out white. I mean WHITE. My Mom, who was a labor & delivery nurse, took one look at my face & started laughing. Then she said: don't worry, she'll darken up in a few days. And sure enough she did! A lot of babies start one color & end up another. Very common.

Never tell a gross person (misogynistic, abusive, controlling, etc) what they did to give you the ick enough to leave them/stop seeing them. They typically don't use that info to better themselves, they tend to use that info to better hide their flaws for their next potential victim. The more they learn what not to do, the more perfect a predator they become. The next person they're interested in doesn't get the same warnings you got, and are often subjected to abuse because of it. It's the same reason normal individual and couples therapy doesn't work on them. They use it as a tool to improve their skills instead of their behaviors. A healthy individual wouldn't act that way, but a somewhat healthy person can figure out what they did wrong on their own if they bother to self reflect. A predator/abuser often needs that info because they don't see what they did as wrong, and need an outside perspective to point out the flaws in their behavior. When people breakdown their red flags for them, they learn to turn red flags yellow, and eventually to make them look green. Save your list of icks for someone who isn't a walking red flag, someone who is more likely to use that info to be a better person.

Why does OP have to raise someone else's kid if he doesn't want to?
If it was taking care of Harper every other weekend, that'd be more reasonable. If any, if the wife feels so bad for HER friend, then the wife should be the one investing HER time in helping her own friend.

OP deserves having 1 on 1 quality time with his own daughter, and nobody should be forcing or making him feel guilty for not raising a deadbeat's kid.

Also eating disorders are often based on needing to feel in control of something, especially when you're a teenager with do little control over any part of your life.

Story 5: There is a non 0% chance, that the boyfriend also has black ancestors, he doesn't know about, for the child to be that dark. It's not necessary, though. There was a video of a KKK-member, who had a black child and he was convinced it wasn't his. Turned out HE was the one with the black ancestor.

For the dog one. I would love to have the dog there and totally pretend like nothing is wrong and have the bf come back home and see the dog there and watch him freak out while acting like nothing happened. That would be hilarious.
I understand not doing that in this situation but could you imagine his face seeing the dog and doing like a weird double take

OHMYGOSH!!! My 6 year old is like 70 pounds! holy crap! I am definitely wishing her well and that she gets the help she needs!!!

Munchausen by proxy/FDIOA can start with a parent who is genuinely afraid that the kid is sick.
MBP is absolutely abuse, and doctors are legally required to report any suspicion of abuse to CPS. Whether social services will actually do anything is another question. Further, unfortunately there's a huge parental rights movement right now making things even more difficult in this realm.
For anyone interested, the podcast Nobody Should Believe Me is about MBP and shares a ton of great resources.

Squatter rights only happens in certain states and op is in Australia

1:13:15 as a victom of Munchausen by proxy, I wish it was easy for docs to catch on and report.  Idk about others, but what my mother did was doctor hop, wouldn't let us see the doctor alone cause "they will try to kidnap you", and made us believe we were actually sick.  As soon as a doc was catching on that my mother was spouting bullshit she needed a second oppinion, wash, rinse, repeat.  A good amount of the doctors we saw were out of state and we only saw once or maybe a handfull of times.  I think the longest we had the same doctor was 3 years? And that was before it got bad.  In a way it's grooming, all of it started when I was about 4 and I got out at 19.  There was a big learning curve that I wasn't sick, that I can trust my own memory and discernment, I'm smart, and can advocate for myself.  I still can't make or go into doctor appointments, working on it with a therapist, without having a full on dissociative episode and panic attack.  All in all I'm just glad me and my (now married) bother got out alive and are thriving, and we're working on healing and moving forward to do what WE invision for our future

59:10 in the US the crimes are probably petty theft and conversion. Like stealing and pawning her $400 watch.

Story 3: this is a precursor to DV ramping up. Call the police and report it as such, in many countries that means the abuser will be removed straight away. And then he threatened her life!

I don't even have words for story 3. I would completely snap

NSW is New South Wales

Claire- ity. Lol😅

1:17:36 Anorexia in enmeshed mother/daughter relationships is so common that it's almost expected

100:00:51 I would have been going John Wicke on his *ss.

For the last one, it looks like the OP made a new post asking it multivitamins actually did anything and mentioned in the comments that her mom was trying to convince her to take them.

Last story sounds like a composition of a bunch of things I’ve read about before in books. No idea how systems work elsewhere but being taken from your abusive or potentially abusive parents by getting put in inpatient treatment, especially if you’re dangerously underweight you’re considered a danger to yourself while someone that was harming you is a danger to others, both qualify for involuntary hospitalisation and they’re both left to their own devices. If true, that’s the scary part, since yes abusers that “suddenly turn calm” is the calm before the storm.

But yes I was put in inpatient care to get me away from my parents, since it would also leave me under observation. And I wasn’t nearly as close to death, so that can happen. Not that they told my parents that they were concerned about how I was being treated at home, has to do with safety. Felt weird because I didn’t even consider my parents abusive but that’s normal. They’re not horrible people, just broken people with their own issues that they need help with, sometimes life just ends up being like that and you have to try your best for your own sake, and others too. Can’t help others if you can’t help yourself after all.
