I also like how the Fear Hole isn't evil, it's very upfront about how it works and what it wants, and it's true to its word that once you face your fear, you're free to go. I like it when weird supernatural entities aren't assholes, it's a good twist.

The one key detail I like about this episode is that they show Morty jumping into the fear hole; we never see Rick jump in. Rick doesn't even show up until Morty yells for him out of fear.

I like how Rick has a picture of Morty Inside his wallet

In regards to the "you're irreplaceable" line, the thing that I remembered was that Rick literally replaced Morty with two crows in Season 5

I love that the hole really is basically just a theme park ride. All the danger of it “eating them slowly” was part of the hallucination and in the end Morty really was just sitting in a relatively shallow and safe hole experiencing all of this in his head.

You have this cosmic horror fear hole in the bathroom of a diner, and it’s as safe as a theme park ride and just allows you to understand and face what you fear most. Meanwhile, the matrix that Rick put them in for stealing his phone charger was much MUCH more damaging to them to the point they had to get mind blown😂

Morty being the main character of this episode was an amazing choice. The show sidelines him a lot whenever Rick is there so I'm glad he got such an amazing episode.

"theres only 3 photos" at first i thought only 3 people did it. now i realize only 3 people have come out

So after all the time Omar talked about the fear hole this is the first time he actually explained the fear hole as a video

The one thing I loved about season 9 more than anything else is how much they've actually let the characters grow. The best example of that is Jerry in a scene that most people probably overlooked. In the kung fu episode, when Jerry and the pool guy are trapped in the flooded house and finally beat the robot, Jerry is the one to go over to the painting and lower the house shields keeping them locked in. Jerry was able to confidently use a piece of Rick's tech. He didn't need to be saved by someone else. He wasn't made into the butt of the joke. He's able to have his own little sci-fi adventures now.

I’ve been saying since the episode aired, “The hole told Morty everything he needed to hear.” And I don’t mean in an advice way, but in a way to help him figure it out. “You’re afraid if I’m happy, I won’t need you anymore” “it takes a very special very powerful being to be scared of happiness.” Both times the hole was talking about and to Morty. Throughout the series, I could argue that Rick isn’t afraid to be happy. He just genuinely doesn’t understand what that means anymore. Morty is happy to be with Rick, and he’s the one scared of that Happiness fleeting away. Morty is the one who has a clear definition of what makes him feel happy in their relationship if you think about it. That’s why it was the perfect Irony that Morty kept saying “dumb” at the holes thoughts. Cause technically don’t we all think our worst fear is kinda dumb at some point. I literally tell myself everyday being scared of spiders is dumb, I’m a grown ass man, what is a little spider gonna do to me. But the second I see one I scream like a Girl lmaoo. It’s the same thing.

Even the concept of Morty trying to scare himself in more extreme ways to "hog the hole" and the eventual reveal that Rick isn't even in the hole is a callback to the episode where Rick gets abducted by aliens and put in a simulation so they can steal the recipe for concentrated dark matter.

2:47 I love that Morty is actually met with his fear so quickly, but how instead of conquering it then, brushes it off instead. He’s clearly lying when he says he’s insulted, you can hear it in his voice.

THE HOLE GUY SPEECH THO

I think the jerry joke has more to it. I dont think his fear is just to end up looking like his dad, the fear is growing up to BE his dad. And thats why i thought that joke was genius, a lot of people can identify with that fear.

I think something I adore about this episode too is the fact that the way Fear Rick acts in the Fear Hole is different from our Rick, especially when it come to his gadgets. You can clearly tell that Morty isn't as imaginative as Rick is when it comes to inventions and you can see that in how all the tech in the Fear Hole are more simple and basic. Such a good detail to tell you that something isn't right.

For a long time (and sometimes still do) i've wanted Diane to come back. I wanted Rick to feel happy again, but the more this show goes on, the more the message is clear. Prime Rick wiped her from existence, and C-137 Rick shot a rocket of his last memory of her in deep space. In my opinion it is clear that the show is trying to tell us that we have to give up trying to live in the past. There are things that won't always go our way in life, some things you can never get back, people, memories, time, etc. And you have to be okay with that and slowly learn how to move on. No matter how smart we are, we can't create something to bring those things back, so the only thing we can do is to be thankful for those moments and live in the present to create new ones. It's truly a beautiful lesson and something all of us can relate and do better at.

8:03 this is a huge miss. Considering the kind of man Jerry was, Morty obviously has a fear of becoming his father, the same way many fear becoming their parents. Looking like Jerry is not the problem.

Holy shit, of course the episode would only focus on Morty all along. If it was a Rick and Morty episode, it would've been called
"FeaRick no mort" but instead it's "fear no mort"

The three parts, the salesman’s speech, Rick saying goodbye to Diane, and Morty’s realization combine so well. But for me, the salesman’s speech was extremely shattering because it’s true. Nihilistic but true.
