"Desire for women has brought me grief after grief."

Same, bro

Criston loyal to Alicent until he got PTSD after his men burned to dust.

This is genuinely one of the best scenes of the whole show

Cole questioning of the ideals that he once lived by, being corrupted by them, realizing it’s all meaningless in the face of the annihilation that awaits them all is very quintessential asoiaf.

The writers did a fantastic job with Cole’s character, added humanity to him.

I love how Gwayne slightly steps back after Cole grabs his sword. If there is anything to respect about him its his fighting ability.

I like how Gwayne stood up to Criston for Alicent like that. Here, he’s just a protective big brother. And yet Alicent later betrays him and signs his own death warrant.

Gwayne thinks too highly of the kingsguard personally chosen by Aegon II. ☠️

People miss the point of this scene completely, simplifying his words here. He does truly love alicent, and she is why he chose to keep living, she convinced him to go on with life, that’s why he’s finally stopped lying to himself about his feelings for her and this war, he says in front of everyone the way he views her that even Gwayne is stunned but also understands there are bigger things atp cause they are likely to die

This is something out of Shakespeare, seriously loved this scene. Nice to see Cole having some actual personality, and he's now a very interesting character.

This was probably Cole's best scene in the entire show. He's been by far the most unlikable character since midway thru season 1. But he was humanized here in a way that feels legitimately earned. His fear after rook's rest is understandable. He prided himself on his skills as a knight but what does that matter in the face of a dragon? He has learned that he's irrelevant in dragon warfare.

the almost child-like, helpless look Cole gives to Gwayne as he says "don't you think?"....

I don’t care how much flack I get for this. This show made me empathise with Criston Cole. Also getting Fabian Frankel to play him didn’t hurt either

Gwayne: I could have you killed.
Cole: Don’t threaten me with a good time.

'The dragons dance and men are like dust beneath their feet'

Cole and alicent adopting a bit of a nihilism kind of view because of the dance 🤔

0:39 - 1:13 is me to my roomate in the middle of the night when I give up on life instead of studying for the exam tommorow

Aww nice to know Criston has loved Alicent for so long.

I like this scene. It’s the little details. The self hatred in Cole’s face and words. The stagger back from gwayne as criston picks up his sword.
Such a good monologue

Gwayne stepping back when Cole pulls his sword..  his sudden realization that his title and bloodline mean very little in that moment if Cole chooses violence..
