Just sent my order in yesterday - so this was a great video to see at this time!

At Coast Guard basic in the 1960’s, we still drilled and fired the M1. I always smile a bit when I see guys talking about the parts in their rifle. In order to demonstrate the inner-changeability of parts in the Garand, one drill consisted of stripping the rifle down to bare receiver. We’d toss all the parts into piles (oprod, springs, follower, etc..) then in a mad minute, grab random parts and reassemble.

My dad carried one in the Army. He bought 2 of them in 1960.  Both were from 1941.  They were the first guns I shot.  I was 6 at the time.  They are the greatest battlefield implement in history.  Like the C47, it has a most beautiful silhouette.

Just got my Field Grade M1 Garand from the CMP! It’s a six digit Springfield from 1941! Has all springfield parts from different years- even the stock has an SA stamp. Beautiful rifle.

Just got mine... Field grade!  So thrilled!  All matching walnut stock with well worn circle p on grip, reciever was manufactured june 1944... The very month of d day.  Bolt from march 45, 54 lmr barrel with good rifling, no pitting rust or anytging.  1+ and 1+.  Stock has minor dings and marks making it look the part verses a newer stock.  So freakn happy!!!!

Took me about 1 hour to get it. I'm lucky enough the CMP Talladega range is near me. Purchased it and shot it. 941 Winchester. I've been putting on the Linseed oil for 5 days now, 2 more coats. Color is incredible. Probably worth driving a few hours to obtain one. They were so helpful in obtaining it and instructed me on the range shooting it. Awesome!

Those Garands look better than I expected.

Thank you for showing these Garands. I’ve considered adding a CMP rifle to my collection.

Congratulations on your Garand! It'll be my next purchase.
Your enthusiasm is evident when you talk about these beauties, earned a subs.
Keep up the great work!

Liked, subbed, and very thankful for another American patriot in our ranks.

Congrats to you both! Good video, loved your excitement!

In 1982, I joined a CMP range, so I could buy M1's. I spent my tax return and bought 3 shooter grades and 1 collector grade A. All came in the case. The total cost was under 1000 dollars. The next year, I picked up 4 cases of ammunition and a 1903A3.
Don't use automobile grease.  Most had the barrels replaced in the 1950s.

WW2 era Garands!

I love the dark walnut stocks on these WW2 Garands

I like the one from the box best. The walnut stocks, low serial number. Nice.

Got mine in the 80's all matching numbers International Harvester.

Awesome video. Perfect timing. I'm looking at starting the process.

The WW2 in the walnut got my heart racing

Nice video!

The numbers on all the parts aren’t serial numbers they are like series numbers, meaning that the particular part was used in rifles produced in a certain window of time. So you can check the books and charts and find what series parts that should be in your rifle based on the serial number. I have a Feb 1943 Springfield and I have been through the entire rifle part by part checking each number and replacing any with the correct series number. But for a fun shooter rifle getting all the correct numbers makes no difference! Just enjoy shooting and admiring your beautiful rifle!

18:45 - The W.R.A. is Winchester Repeating Arms, so your trigger group is a mix of manufacturers.
