Happy Father's Day I've run both I have two classic T-Maxes one with a 3.3 and one with a dynamite 19 I also owned a Revo 2.5R on my T-Max's I am running VP seems to be working well
That question has a neverending debate. Personally I prefer the Revo because of the way it handles and as you mentioned the location of the exhaust. Still the tmaxx will always have that retro charm which the Revo won't see just yet.
At about 13:25 text came up that said it was smoking like a train now... but it seemed only to smoke much after sitting at idle a bit... not much trail of smoke once it gets going... then a bit later in the video you richened the HSN...so I think you were headed the right direction. Another person commented that he thought it spunded like it was rich on the low end and lean on the high end... I think I agree with that... it kinda sounds like its lean on high, and runs on a bit(stays at a high idle when you let off) ... then idle drops after it is off throttle a bit... One thing I try to do with my nitros is tune them so they are crisp of the bottom end, and get to full rpm without being too lean, but they should immediately drop to a stable idle... not have what is referred to as a 2 stage idle... theu shoudl be able to rip nicely then fall right to idle, and stay at that same idle, for even 15-20 seconds, without that idle changing and without loading up so much that they noticably bog or are lazy on takeoff... a bit of extra smoke after idling a while is OK, but it should he able to idle for a good while and still take off fairly crisp from a stop...then pull to full speed and pretty much immediately fall to a stable idle as soon as you let off the throttle... Curious as to why you run 20% ? I run 30% Lutz which has both castor and synthetic blended in the oil package... it's great stuff... and 9% oil is plenty, more than 10% is too much in my opinion... VP Lutz works great in my nitros, stuff from .12 and .15 up to .21 race engines...my nitro experience is mostly in racing them, with a bit of running my truggy and 2wd truck away from the tracks as well... but I have had a bit of experience with a couple Revos that friends had... If you could only have ONE nitro monster truck, between these two... considering fun of running it, ease of working on them, etc... would you choose Tmaxx or Revo?
I’ve always used Traxxas fuel. I run my tanks completely empty, spray down the trucks and used WD40 and I can let my Nitro’s sit for years and they start right up.
