Why the Jedi Never ONCE Sensed Palpatine Was a Sith

The Stupendous Wave

How did Darth Sidious hide in plain sight from Yoda, Mace Windu, and the entire Jedi Order? In this Star Wars deep dive, we explore how Palpatine concealed his presence in the Force, manipulated the Jedi throughout the Clone Wars, and remained above suspicion even as their investigation led directly to his inner circle. The Jedi could sense the dark side surrounding Palpatine, but they never realized the Chancellor himself was the Sith Lord they had been searching for.

Mace Windu: Chancellor Palpatine, have you noticed any Sith nearby?
Palpatine: No...no, can't say that I have. Have you seen my collection of Sith artifacts?
Mace Windu: Very nice, but that's not important right now.

"we lost before the war had even begun. The Sith had changed, they'd became businessman and politicians. We lost because we'd spent the last 1000 years preparing to fight an enemy that no longer exists." Yoda, StarWars episode III : Revenge of the Sith Novelization.

Every time I think of windu’s reasoning for not suspecting Palpatine, all I can think of is stupid, stupid stupid stupid.

Are you threatening me master jedi?

I mean these are the same council members who said Dooku couldn't assassinate anyone because it's not "in his character"....

To quote Pitch Meeting, "so the movie could happen."

Palpatine spent over a decade in the highest office of the Republic in constant contact and conversation with Jedi. The idea that he would do so without attempting to murder them was inconceivable

It shows how out of touch the Jedi were when it came to the Sith and how much Darth Bane's Sith adapted.

Now Palpatine having Sith relics in his office is wild. Somebody should have raised an eyebrow to that 😂

Another reason the Jedi failed to sense that Palpatine was the Sith Lord was the fact that the Jedi Temple was built over an ancient Sith Shrine. The dark energies from that Shrine, combined with Palpatine's own force cloak ability, made it nearly impossible to sense him.

I really like the rare moments where situations like these cause Sidious to go: “huh…i didn’t see that coming “ even a 4D Chess player can be surprised

Realizing how close the Jedi were to finding sidious makes him that much cooler

Obi-Wan Kenobi: I have a bad feeling about this.
Qui-Gon Jinn: I don't sense anything.
Obi-Wan: It's not about the mission, Master. It's something... elsewhere. Elusive.
Qui-Gon Jinn- Shut up Obi-Wan

Obi Wan felt it in Negotiations but was forced to ignore it.

The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some Jedi would consider to be DERP.

Windu had balls. I would never show my face in front of palpatine after being played like a fool for decades.

Palpatine is the manifestation of Robert Greens 48 powers of law.
Master the art of timing, don’t overshadow your master, secure your reputation, destroy your enemies completely, say always less then needed, don’t reveal your true intentions and so on and so on.
Nearly ever law is found in his behavior
I’m VERY sure that Lucas took inspiration from the book before writing palpetines character in the prequels
