How do you feel about Resident Evil 5? 🧟

Someone kidnapped my son and replaced him with an imposter, this isn't the channel logo I raised from a young age

17:27 Nailed it! Resident Evil 5 will always hold a special place in my heart because it reminds me of the earliest years of my relationship. My girlfriend and I were constantly broke, so the cheapest way to kill some time between work and classes was to play RE5 together on our 24” Visio TV while sitting on a mattress on the floor in our 500sqft apartment. For some reason my gf insisted on playing as Chris so I was Sheva, IDK why. We’ve been married for almost 14 years now.

I've never been able to hear anyone say "Seven minutes" without thinking about Wesker since...

Hot take, Resident Evil 5 is my favorite in the series. The cheesy dialogue, the memorable set pieces and the many fond memories playing it coop with friends and family just make it above the rest of the series for me.

Ahh yes we are now in the piss filter section of the retrospective

One of the best things about this game is how it turns into a slapstick comedy if your coop partner fails the QTEs throughout the campaign.

fun fact easter egg for lost in nightmares— if you try to leave out the front door three consecutive times, the game switches to fixed cameras like the classics. my friend and i did this on complete accident and i’m not sure how many other people actually found this bc i don’t ever hear it mentioned

Re5 is the only one that iv put serious hours into im my eyes it’s perfectly imperfect and that is why i love it

1:20:00 you can absolutely damage Wesker, it just requires you to flank him which is harder to do solo but very doable, you get new dialog and some treasure for "beating" him here, but probably not worth it.

The game isn't confused about who Chris' partner is, it's just waiting for him to realize how great a functioning polycule can be.

"The main event that has to play after a shocking opener"

What every band that has to follow Gojira must feel like lol

I love this game man! I wish Sheva would make a return someday. It's in my top 5 Resident Evil games.

I just got done replaying this game with my bro from college online. After that amazing time, I must say that most of the people criticizing this game were playing it alone. It is a totally different experience when you play co-op.

My two cents: one of the most replayable game that stays enjoyable through the repeated runs

small thing with the U8 fight, you're intended to run over to the boss when it goes knocked down with a grenade, and with a input prompt (which is why it's in the arena), toss it into it's mouth. this blows open a hole in it's carapace to allow more general shooting. you can actually use a total of 3 grenades using this little QTE path the boss dies, making the fight much faster.

32:35 Sheva just standing there reminds me of OboeShoes describing Borderlands 2 with “But you have to go do it because they have a lot of standing around to do”

45:20 “A system clearly meant for co-op starts to break down in solo. Other news at 11”

Any game you can play with your homies on the couch or coop online and is at least bare minimum 7/10 is a good time. I loved this game for that fact alone

I have been saying for a long time that Resident Evil 5 deserves more love than it has been getting over the years. Sure, it may not be the best game in the series (and has many of its own problems), but it does so many things so well. On top of that, it's got a lot of replay value. And I think the story does a good job of tying RE4 into the rest of the series more directly than RE4 did itself, bringing Wesker back front and center into the spotlight. It's absolutely a solid game that deserves its flowers.
