For me the Merc interior is the the only thing I like about their cars. I know they’re quality but for me it’s always been Audi, when I was 10 in Switzerland I saw my first Audi and from the moment I clapped eyes on one I was in love. That Merc interior though is something else eh. Great stuff Nick, keep em coming 👍

Props to Mercedes for keeping buttons for climate controls, keeping normal vents, touch pad and normal door handles. Just 5-6 years ago it seemed like something normal everyone just expected a car to have, now its a feature.

We are ordering a new GLE 450 as soon as we get a build slot…I miss the good ol’ days when you could walk into a dealership and just order a car.

Welcome to the States, Nick. Cheers! As a 2025 GLE 53 Coupe owner, I don't see any desire to trade in my current as I do not like the newer styling or all of the screens. I can't get my wife to use the passenger screen in my current or previous vehicles that had it and they seem to get dusty so quickly. Sure, the extra power of the GLE 53 hybrid and the newer MBOS would be welcome, but here on the East Coast of the USA, traffic is too heavy to really utilize the power I currently have. The green is beautiful on your tester. Thanks for showing us around the updated (again) GLE. Well done.

Purchased the predecessor ML 350 in what I recall was the fall of 2013. Purchased my current GLE 350 in the spring of 2018. I've been lucky. Both had only routine maintenance. Mine have had running boards because my mother was unable to make it into the passenger seat without that help due to a bad knee. Now that she's gone (at the age of 94!), my next vehicle will not have running boards. I don't drive as much in retirement so my current vehicle has only 45,000 miles. I'm tempted to trade in the spring. But looking at all the options and "kicking tires" at this winter's Auto Show.

Good comment on running boards - I've had SUV's with and without, and they have no function other than to put crap on the back of your trousers when you step out. The worst are the electric folding running boards on the top spec Range Rover - they have kind of a stealth attack mode to put crap on the back of your trousers.

I’ve got a 2026 GLC43 so won’t be upgrading for quite a while. The GLE53e is interesting though I must admit. Would be great to see that in either version although my preference would be for the SUV over the Coupe.

Nice review, shame you couldn’t really get to properly use the car though.

Just received my GLE 450 a couple weeks ago and I have to say the exterior changes were a great surprise. With all the naysayers, I was nervous.
I actually think it has a more muscular stance.
