After months of hard work, stress, and setbacks… it was finally time to take Skylark on a 3-day journey up the Tennessee River. In this emotional episode, we cruise through Watts Bar Lake, Fort Loudoun Lake, and into beautiful Tellico Lake as we make our way to haul out at Harbortowne Marine.
At first, the trip was everything we hoped for — smooth cruising, relaxing anchorages, and a chance to finally enjoy the boat. But once Skylark came out of the water, everything changed.
What we discovered underneath was far worse than we ever imagined. Severely damaged props, driveline components on the verge of failure, and a bottom in terrible condition have us questioning just how deep this project really goes.
This haul out revealed some of the biggest problems we've faced yet, and the future of this project boat just became a whole lot more uncertain.
Join us as we document the real highs and lows of restoring and cruising a classic trawler while chasing the dream of future Great Loop adventures.

Had six boats, same disease, bigger n bigger. I'm a carpenter, rebuilt two wooden 1960 twin screw CC cabin cruisers. Then aluminum then fiberglass. We have a log cabin in the woods n a nice home in the suburbs. Don't have any boats or campers, we're older now and well, we find less is better. I'll say this, I thank God for my beautiful wife who's helped me with every project and I'm sure glad we got to experience life together as we have countless wonderful memories sharing it all with family n friends. God's speed n be safe!
