When you have soil in both your hand and the shovel, and you sweep only the shovel over the metal detector, you can only confirm the contents of the shovel. If there's gold in your hand as well, it might go undetected because the hand isn't swept over the detector, and you just dismiss it. This could mean you're losing a significant portion of the gold you're looking for.
A simple way to fix this would be to sweep both the shovel and your hand over the detector separately. After you get a signal from the shovel, a quick sweep of your hand would ensure that you're not missing any gold. Anyway, it is just a simple observation from my side. Good luck guys.
