My wife and I worked on the Mark 1 that you showed in this video. She worked on the electronics and I did the software development for this.

I heard the story of the 90's tricorder Mark One to be this: Shortly after Gene Roddenberry passed away, his wife. Majel Barrett Roddenberry was contacted by the two men who created the Mark One about their building the first tricorder. She told them that she and Gene had worked out a deal with Paramount that if anyone created a version of the tech showed on Star Trek that really functioned similar to the way the item worked on the show, they could buy the license to sell the product for only one dollar.

The Wand Company has really made a functional piece of art , and for keeping the price down at $350 for something that easily could have cost $500 is astounding ... I must commend them at their dedication to all of us 💗

I love when Norm squirms at Adams handling of collectibles. It's one of the charms of these vids I love haha

Hearing Adam exclaim “It’s such a good time to be a geek!” While reading the Ars Technica article “Looming tariffs are making it extra hard to be a tech geek” was quite the juxtaposition 😢

No matter how old we Trekkies get we are still kids at heart. Once a Trekkie always a Trekkie.

I was at a convention in Toronto, Ontario where a couple of people from the company were demonstrating the prototype. I had a chance to talk to them for a few minutes and they told me how they moved into a new office. They wanted to install some new plugs or something in the walls and needed to know where the wires were. They pulled out the prototype and used it to scan the wires in the wall. It was designed to be a real science instrument.

This is the absolute incarnation of everything I would have dreamed of in my most fervent fan days (1970s). At the ripe old age of sixty-six, I cannot imagine purchasing anything more symbolic of my youth than this device. I filled out the order form at the 11:55 mark in this video. I am ever so fortunate to be married to a woman who, although she does not share my passion for Star Trek TOS, will not put me through the "Why do you need it?" or "What are you going to do with it?" interrogation that many of my fellow fans will almost certainly endure. That is why I am the proud owner of the communicator already. As someone almost certainly destined to leave this world via the one-way ticket we are all born with rather than ever having the chance to journey in a functioning spacecraft, I am unbelievably grateful to The Wand Company for this piece of kit.

Norm is the geek's geek. The force is strong with him.

Wow! That is too freaking cool. I'm 71 now and grew up with the original Star Trek and still love everything Star Trek.

Possibly the greatest replica prop ever...

I think Norm is great. Has a thorough knowledge of many things.

I remember seeing that TNG Tricorder in the magazine. I so want one, but it was like $500 at the time. Nice to have actually seen it for real. And yes, it was doing what it could for 90's technology of the era, versus what we have now thanks to smartphones and the progression of technology.

Awesome! Can't wait for a company that can produce a medical tricorder that can take a person's temp, blood pressure, pulse, heart rate, just by using the small hand held sensor and waving over the patient's body, just like Drs. McCoy & Crusher did in the show. Those would be such a boon to the medical community, especially in emergencies and when there are multiple patients that need to be treated. Thank you so much!

The Wand Company is absolutely killing it with their prop replicas. I have the Fallout 76 Pip-Boy kit and the Fallout TV show Pip-Boy and both are incredible. They truly go above and beyond with the replicas they make. I can't wait to see what they do next.
