Lidl Have BANNED Me! What Have I Done Wrong?

This week’s Lidl Parkside Tool Tour took an unexpected turn!

I headed into Lidl as usual with my camera to see what latest Parkside tools were on the shelves and share the finds with you. But this time, something rather unexpected happened. I was approached by two members of staff and informed that, on the store manager’s instructions, I’m no longer allowed to film inside the store.

Why? Nobody could tell me!

So, what’s going on? Have I really been banned from Lidl? Watch this week’s Tool Tour to see what happened, discover the latest Parkside tools and make your own mind up.

I think you need to ask to see the manager and get an explanation. If they can’t give a reason but still say you can’t film you have to contact Lidl head office to complain. I think they will be fine and grant you permission. Good luck and thanks for the rant.

Hi Billy, I don't know the reason why, but in Italy it is also forbidden to take videos and photos inside a supermarket. At least as far as my country is concerned, it's not a matter of the store manager. I don't want to be wrong, but I think it's also written on the entrance doors or on a bulletin board right outside the door or just as you walk in.

Firstly as a commercial creator you have different rules and regs to follow. When entering a private area you should ask for permission to vlog/film and state your intentions. They will ask if you have public liability insurance to a certain level. If you dont have any insurance you will get refused access to film. Heres a scenario a monetized 'youtuber' enters store with permission to film but No insurance(nobody asked for proof of insurance). Sets up a tripod for a wide angled shot. Customer trips because of tripod. Youtuber has no insurance the customers legal team will go after the retailer for compensation. Thus corporate companies refuse commercial creators without permission. Some companies just refuse any filming at all. You could've asked to speak to the manager. But he/she could've told you directly instead of delegating. You dont know if Area manager has seen you filming and then passed it down the line. Yes you feel your doing Good but sadly the corporate world see it differently.

Your videos are the only way I know what lidl has in stock so I know if it's worth the long journey to my nearest store, without your videos they lose me as a customer

Contact their Head Office, and ask what the rules are. The manager should have spoken to you directly at the very least. Thank you for your reviews, I really enjoy listening.

I love your videos. I live very rural and it's a long way for me to go to the nearest Lidl and when I watch your videos I can decide if this is a good week to visit them and have an idea on what tool I would like to buy. Hope you keep doing the videos mate.

Filming at someone's private premises without permission is generally not a criminal offense on its own, but it can quickly become illegal or actionable depending on how and where it is done.
Filming While on Private Property
• Owner's Consent: Property owners or occupiers have the right to set rules for entry. If they tell you not to film and you refuse to stop, you are in breach of their conditions and become a trespasser.
• Trespass: In the UK, trespass is a civil matter rather than a criminal one. The owner can ask you to stop filming and order you to leave. If you refuse, they can use reasonable force to remove you, but police usually will not intervene unless a criminal offense (like a breach of the peace, criminal damage, or harassment) occurs.
• Private Areas: Secretly or covertly filming in areas with a high expectation of privacy—such as bedrooms, bathrooms, or changing rooms—is strictly illegal and can constitute criminal offenses like voyeurism or harassment³
