He only covered parts of the two Hollands
There are 10 more provinces to visit, each with their own wonderful places

Dutchman here!

Appreciate you doing your research before visiting and planning to go to other places besides Amsterdam (which is already overcrowded with tourists).
Hope you have fun on your trip!

Happy to hear you get the chance to visit the Netherlands, hope you'll have a great time!

You gonna like it...no matter where you are in the Netherlands 🎉

28:10 my favorite cycling short cut to school 45 years ago.

Don't forget to visit the Efteling (themepark)!

The fresh salted herring is not raw. Still on the fishing boats they are cured, "haring kaken", undone from yaws and intestins. Then salted and refrigerated. The whole process is to ferment the herring.
In the stalls on the market the "fresh" herrings are further cleaned for consumption. When don right, most of the tiny and soft bones have gone. For me, the best way to eat "raw" herring is to slice the 2 halves into 8 smaller peaces and lightly cover them with chopped unions. Have some slices of sweet pickle beside it.
The fishy meat is very tender and tastes refreshing like the fresh air from the sea. Best to have them mid June when the New herring season starts. After a fine walk on the beach in the afternoon and you fancy some savory snacks, you might try this Dutch delicacy for the first time. Once hooked up, you cannot withstand them ever.
And also contains very healthy omega 3 and proteins 😋🥰

Hi Amy, the places he visits are so touristic. And so full with people. There are more foreigners than Dutch people. There are enough really nice places in the south east en north of the Netherlands. If you want to mingle go that way 👍🏽greetings from Maastricht 👋🏽👋🏽

The market in Delft is a 5 min walk from my house

You should go to Dordrecht oldest city in the province of holland. Almost no tourism there. It’s a real hidden gem

Try Kibbeling or a Lekkerbekje (I hope you'll like that better)

Hey Amy. I'm a Dutchy, 62 years old. My parents, grandparents, my 2 sisters, all love and like fish. Different species, different sorts.
I, never. Fishsticks and kibbeling. Those are the only ones I will eat.

Go seeing Breda with his old history of the Nassau’s… the former kings and queens place. The atmosfere is great… the people ar fine, always wanted to help you if you have a problem of question. We have a station… a great park… Breda is near to belgium… and our city calls ‘ Park city.. “ because we have so much green in it . X

Hope you visit Groningen, you wont regret visiting it. You can just visit the south and South Holland + North Holland, but the north of the Netherlands is way differerent then all of those.  Its worth visiting Groningen, or Friesland cause its gonna be a way different experience then North Brabant or Holland.

The South region of the Netherlands is with your DNA.. you will feel good in that area where Efteling is. Maybe it will be like coming home or as you where there in a early life.  So great that you come to our country… i love the Netherlands.. as a Belgian as birth… I moved to the Netherlands at 22 years ol.. .and live here for 46 years now… and have the Dutch nationality for 35 years now.. this is my country where i can be myself.. i love it. Nice that you are gonna taste is all and experiance our life. X

Nice you will be visiting my country. The connection between the USA and my country is closer than many realize. When you decide to visit Zaanse Schans by train from Amsterdam. I have a tip for some locations you might pass walking to Zaanse Schans, not really visible today what happened there. Its about the Declaration of Independence. In the National  Archives there are some examples of the first printed version (broadsides printed by John DUNLOP on the 4th of July 1776) . The watermarks in the paper revealed it are sheets of white paper from different paper manufactures with windmills around the present location of the Trainstation Zaandijk Zaanse Schans.
So when you stepped out of the train, wait a moment on the platform till the train left again. When you look in the driving direction of the train and look at your left, you will see the fields of the Kooger Football Club (KFC) at the end of the street. There was the white paper producing windmill De Wever (the Weaver). A couple of hundred yards more away was another white paper producing windmill Het Fortuin (the Fortune) and in that area were more of those white paper producing windmills, related to the first printed version. When you start walking through the tunnel of the station to the Zaanse Schans over the Stationsstraat. The first street you see on your right is named Zwarte Bonsemstraat. (Black Skunk street) named after the paper producing windmill of that name on the left side of the Stationstraat, just before the former school building. When you walk the Stationsstraat, you pass a large Cocoa plant. They are the one that produces the cocoa that makes the Oreo cookies that dark ;-) Enjoy your stay at Zaanse Schans.

Highly reccomend going to the efteling when you go to the netherlands

My place is small but has the oldest double watermill in the Netherlands build in 1548. Just by saying, roughly 200 years older than the usa.

The pure horror on your face when seeing herring and eels is funny. Don't worry, nobody will force you to eat an eel or a herring, more 'normal' food is available too, and in an emergency there is always McDonalds. ;-)  Anyway, april you said? Bring a coat. When they make videos like this it's always summer, but it isn't summer in april. Hope you get lucky with the weather, but forget about summer temperatures. I wish you a fun and interesting visit, I'm sure you want to see things, but relax a bit too.

ps A herring isn't really raw, the marination process is a kind of 'cooking'  too, without heat, like a pickled onion isn't really raw anymore either.

i'm pretty sure you won't like herring, just buy one "broodje haring" for the 3 of you, and eat kibbeling after that :)
please do visit rotterdam, its  so divers. great architecture, nice people and great food
you'll have a great time here, 2 weeks will be intense, but also too short to experience all of it
