'We're two bumbling MI6 agents impersonating an American couple restoring a chateau!' Hilarious! 😂😅😊🤣👏

To answer your question, it's the stand of an ancient farm table. The top was removable and those squares goes under the top table to stabilize it. If it's too low, it's because they cut the feets. If you work (clean and varnish) the base you can put a wood top if you want and you will have a table. You just have to adjust the feets. That's it. Simple is that! My grandmother have one 50 years ago (at least). That table was done to use it outside and you can move it everywhere you want. Note: I am French and try to explain it the bestI can. Hope it's going to help. :)

We are in the states experiencing the arctic blast. Currently 16 below. We finally captured a stray kitty that has been roaming our neighborhood for months. The first thought that came to my mind immediately after capture was “what would Amanda do?”  He is inside living his best live at the kitty spa. 🤣

I can’t go to France myself, so I am living my dream life through the two of you. I love the donkeys and the cats and your three-legged dog. Your work ethic is unbelievable. And I love the comfy, unpretentious way you finish and furnish the chateau.

You absolutely have the right to say who goes on your land. I hate all forms of hunting.

They are coastal redwood trees.Sequoia Sempervirens. They may have been planted to resemble a naturally occurring  cathedral ring.  The main tree is in the center and basal sprouts  grow around the tree. When the main tree is cut down or dies the outer sprouts grow in a ring formation around the stump. Some of the rings are very large. The one on my property is about 15 ft in diameter. We affectionately call it our Fairy Ring.

I just love the sense of humour

Hello, luckily I came across your channel! We are a Swiss couple and are currently buying a farm 5 minutes away from you. Hopefully we will get to know each other, even though I speak very little English.
Best regards from Switzerland.❤🇨🇭

Oh!  I love seeing the donkey close up when you were working on the hay bale.  Too cute!!!

Get a big bull horn and shout “NO HUNTERS ALLOWED ON THIS PROPERTY!’ Before approaching gun shot area please! ❤

When you go into the woods hunting for hunters you should wear a very bright color like red , orange, yellow so the hunters will know you're not wild. You can put a red bandanna around the dog's collar when they are running outside.

You have a gate leg table. The top is apparently lost, but it’s “portable” (snicker) in the old times sense. And your trees appear not to be Sequioa’s or Redwood- but Western Red Cedar. They are now found throughout Edwardian gardens, hardy and with insane growth rates.

Even after several bold hints my neighbour still hasn’t shown up to clean my eaves!  Big kudos to yours.

We love your neighbor ♥️👍💐

I remember seeing a table base like that , antique picnic table that could be folded and stored every winter. It had a huge round table top. Back then boulders would have been used under the legs to avoid wet rotten legs and help level it on uneven ground.  The picture I saw looked like between 12 and twenty people seated around it .❤

I was watching another chateau channel and learned something interesting about the viviers in France.  I believe it was Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte’s second son who become Napoleon III and started the vivier system in France.  The reason to start the vivier system in France was to conquer cholera I think. Napoleon III built a vivier in every community in France to be shared by everyone living in that community. The idea was to have a central location for washing clothes and linens and to keep the community drinking water separate from the washing area in hopes of keeping the drinking water supply clean and disease free. Anyway community viviers became gossip centers much like the workplace water coolers!  There was also a hierarchy at viviers.  Servants washing clothes of their wealthy employers were at the top!  Washing day was typically on Mondays. Obviously after WWII viviers soon became obsolete but there are many ruins of viviers around all of France.

You need Nick to come look at your trees. Maybe Dan can spare him for a day?

Ha ha ha!  LOVED your intro!  You have such a good sense of humor! 😂 Stay warm--we're freezing here in Illinois, too!

How do I love your channel…let me count the ways…❤
Thanks for taking us along!!

It's a table stand. An ancient version of a modern folding table. Greetings from France.
